Dog treats made in Kelowna with B.C.-grown CBD

woman with dog

No sugar, no spice, but everything nice for dogs around Kelowna

Peppy Pets sells homemade dog treats made with love, and CBD, in Kelowna.

Darba Melenchuk started making dog treats after her family adopted a dog from Mexico.

After sharing her chicken-flavoured snacks with the neighbourhood pups, Melenchuk said that word spread that her treats were nutritious and delicious. Melenchuk said that she is an entrepreneur at heart and was looking to start a new business, after working as a stay-at-home mom for a few years.

Peppy Pets was created when the family pooch lost the pep in its step and the medications they were taking were not sufficient.

Magic mushroom dispensaries operating openly in Vancouver

marijuana leaf

The city now boasts a handful of dispensaries; VPD says it is focused on gang-fuelled trafficking of opioids

In the City of Vancouver, buying magic mushrooms, in at least one case, can be as easy as ordering your morning cup of coffee.

In a development reminiscent of its first unlicensed pot cafés, the city has seen a recent shroom boom with at least four new dispensaries openly setting up shop: two in downtown Vancouver, one on Commercial Drive and another on the Downtown Eastside.

Many of them tout the benefits of psilocybin, an hallucinogenic compound found in mushrooms that the medical community has been studying for its therapeutic use in treating mental health conditions and end-of-life distress.

Legal weed paying off for B.C. First Nation

statue

While some Indigenous communities in B.C. have embraced the grey market for cannabis, the Williams Lake First Nation has taken a different approach that embraces the law.

That decision has paid off handsomely for the WLFN, with officials on Friday performing a cultural blessing at its Unity Cannabis shop in Penticton, which is the third such store it has opened in B.C.

Chief Willie Sellars, who attended the ceremony, said in an interview afterwards the decision to keep everything above board was grounded in economic and safety reasons.

Fast-tracking of pot legalization came with a cost on roads

woman with marijuana behind the wheel

A study found that combining cannabis and alcohol impairs driving ability to a far greater extent than either substance used on its own does.

While the recent court case involving a Central Saanich man who struck and killed a woman and critically injured her sister almost four years ago was unfolding in Victoria, new findings on how cannabis affects people’s driving abilities were also being released.

In B.C. Supreme Court, Anthony Thomas pleaded not guilty to six driving offences, including impaired driving and dangerous driving causing the death of Kim Ward, 51, on Aug. 27, 2018, and impaired driving and dangerous driving causing bodily harm to her sister, Tracy Ward.

Paralympian pivot: Snowboarder Tyler Mosher now 'slugging it out' on the cannabis trail

snowboarder

In his mid-40s, Mosher got an Executive MBA and went into CBD. There's only one problem: market regulation

Buy a new pickup truck, run a marathon, transform the family basement into a man cave, express a sudden interest in personal fashion, daydream about being taller, younger and more handsome. Such are the clichéd male musings as he wrestles through midlife, a period of self-reflection capable of spurring some to action and others to simply grumble about how it sucks to get old.

Tyler Mosher isn’t much of a complainer, although it would be understandable if he were, given he relies on a $2 plastic catheter to get the deed done every time he goes to the washroom.
