Ganja Stylist: The Secret World of Trimming

Harvest season in Northern California is a remarkable time of year. The leaves are a rainbow of autumn colors, the air is cool and crisp, summer comes to San Francisco and the psychedelic excess of festival season gives way to a mellow reconnecting with the bounty of the land. It also marks the beginning of trim season and the annual emergence of a unique cannabis subculture, a sort of underground aspect, of the pot world.

California Marijuana legalization ballot measure to have a pot of money

Tech billionaire Sean Parker is expected to fund a possible California ballot proposal to legalize marijuana.

Many groups are trying to get initiatives legalizing marijuana on California’s November 2016 ballot, but one scheduled to be announced Monday will have something none of the others do: the money to run an effective campaign.

The Chronicle has learned that billionaire tech investor Sean Parker, the former Facebook president, is willing to spend millions to help pass the proposed Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act, according to a source close to the ballot effort.

California’s New Medical Marijuana Legislation: Cue the Bad Lawsuits

We’ve written extensively of late about both California’s Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act (MMRSA) and about the nationwide uptick in cannabis-related litigation (see herehere andhere), so it comes as no surprise that there is already a lawsuit challenging the state constitutionality of California’s

A Very Big California Marijuana Legalization Announcement Is Coming Tomorrow

California is the biggest marijuana legalization domino that is in play for 2016. I have had many conversations with members of the mainstream media about California, and I have said many times that many people will measure the success of the 2016 campaign by whether or not California succeeds. Several states could legalize in 2016, and while I think that even one state would be a huge victory, many others will consider it bittersweet if California fails to legalize again.

Petition For 'Marijuana Legalization Initiative Statute' Needs 365880 Signatures

What could be a resolution to the long-running debate over medical marijuana in Los Angeles and across California took a step forward today when backers of a proposal to legalize the drug won the state’s OK to gather petition signatures needed to put the idea before voters.

If enacted, the state would see a huge financial windfall through law enforcement cost savings and the new taxation of the drug and drug businesses.

More than $100 million in law enforcement costs could be saved if the measure becomes law, according to state officials. In addition, millions would be raised by taxing the drug industry.

San Francisco dentist accused of trafficking medical marijuana across state lines

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) --

A San Francisco dentist is accused of an interstate pot operation.

Jerome Weitz, D.D.S., runs a dental practice in the city's Mission District. Prosecutors say he was trafficking marijuana from San Francisco all the way to New York.

No one, including the dentists who work at the office, told ABC7 News they had any idea the man who cuts their checks is behind bars. They also didn't know their boss' son got arrested for illegally selling medical marijuana earlier this year. Prosecutors are saying this is a case of like father, like son.

On his YouTube page Jerome Weitz is the friendly dentist his patients have known for 30 years at his Mission Street business.

Planning Ahead for the Changing Times in Cannabis Public Markets

At the risk of dating myself, one of my preferred Broadway plays is “South Pacific” and “Bali Hai” is a song in the show. Bali Hai is an island out in the range upon which many fantastic things can and actually do happen in the show. However naturally it is found to be a fantasy and the truth of World War II eventually intrudes upon the story.

Investing in marijuana public companies is like traveling to Bali Hai. We can all see it in the distance and no doubt there are potentially some wonderful things there, however with the exception of the late-2013 to early-2014 bubble, from which fortunes were made, there has actually been little continual progress in producing a genuinely public business sector Version 2.0.
