Software for the marijuana industry set to yield high returns

Is there software in the burgeoning legal marijuana industry? Just a dab. With four states offering legal marijuana, and more than 20 with medical or decriminalized cannabis laws, the business of selling the plant and its derivatives is growing every year.

Naturally, software developers, vendors and startups alike are all looking to cash in on the boom. Silicon Valley, itself located in a state with legalized medical marijuana, has even produced a few pot startups.

Leafly, for example, offers an index of pot shops, crowdsourced information on the powers and effects of various strains, and coverage of the industry as a whole, no different than a wine blog or beer magazine.

Increasing Numbers Of Americans Support Marijuana Legalization

A wave of recent polls shows that majorities of voters in five states, and a majority nationwide, support legalizing medical marijuana. Many voters also support legalizing marijuana for recreational use.

Eighty percent of Florida’s registered voters would support a state constitutional amendment to legalize medical marijuana. While support drops when voters are asked about recreational use, the issue still garners a majority with 56 percent for it and 41 percent against.

Anti-Medical Marijuana Group Releases First Ad of 2016

In its opening salvo of the 2016 campaign, Drug Free Florida claims the medical marijuana proposal on the November ballot is "still a scam to legalize pot."

The group, which successfully stopped a similiar amendment in 2014, released its first ad Monday under the banner of the 'Vote No on 2' campaign. It ties the proposed amendment to the permissive medical marijuana law in California.

Titled "Search," the video features a man snarkily commenting as he conducts an Internet search on California's dispensaries for medical pot. "Look at these names – seriously? Kush Mart?" he says. "They aren't even trying."

Marijuana Industry Sees Green In Florida

There wasn’t a tie-dyed shirt to be found last week at a gathering in Central Florida where the buzz was all about the business of pot.

More than 3,000 people from across the nation and seven other countries swapped information about grow lights, soil nutrients and safes — to stash money and products — at the marijuana industry’s premiere trade show. And the choice of Florida for the event was no accident.

Morgan's proposal, which narrowly failed in 2014 to capture the 60 percent approval required for constitutional amendments to pass in Florida, will be back before voters in November.

This Car Is Made out of Cannabis Hemp

THIS sports convertible brings new meaning to “high-performance” vehicle.

Made from the chassis of a Mazda, the car is made from cannabis hemp — and is touted as possibly leading the charge in making carbon-neutral vehicles, Barcroft Media reported.

Bruce Michael Dietzen from Florida, the mastermind behind the “green machine,” hopes his environmentally friendly car will weed out the taboo behind the cannabis plant.

“Cannabis hemp is still considered a dangerous drug according to the government. It’s considered as dangerous as heroin or cocaine — it’s insane!” he said. “This green machine is made from three plies of woven hemp, making it lighter than cars made from fibreglass.”
