The cannabis smoothie could be the next big thing in ‘green’ drinks

Yep, the cannabis smoothie is here.

Advocate Katie Marsh has been drinking the weed based refreshment for the last 11 months in order to help treat her rheumatoid arthritis.

‘To drink it straight is kind of bitter, but it’s not at all objectionable in a smoothie,’ she told Fox News.

Marsh, from Maine, United States, came up with the idea (with the help of a friend) after medication failed to ease her pain.

After consulting a doctor she got started with her concoction of weed, yogurt and fruit, which is legal because she is prescribed medical marijuana.

12 States Most Likely to Legalize Marijuana Next

Washington State, Washington, D.C. and Colorado have blazed the trail for ending prohibition.

Through legal means these areas have adopted the recreational use of marijuana, freed the market for patients, opened the flood gates for entrepreneurs, and tax revenue for the states and districts. Based on research we have complied a list of states that will be vying for ending prohibition and legalization. With an election coming in 2016 all of these states on the list are going to have a measure on the ballot regarding marijuana. These are exciting times, friends. If you live in one of these states, be on the look out in November 2016 to vote for the right thing for our country. Enjoy.

Maine Legislature soundly rejects marijuana legalization bills

AUGUSTA, Maine — If Maine is going to “free the weed,” the Legislature wants no part of the process.

Lawmakers in the House and Senate overwhelmingly affirmed on Monday that they would not pass a law to legalize, tax and regulate recreational use of marijuana. The House rejected LD 1380, a bill by longtime legalization advocate Rep. Diane Russell, D-Portland, that would have put the question out for a public vote. The bill was defeated 98-45.

Maine House rejects bill to legalize marijuana

AUGUSTA – The Maine House of Representatives has rejected a bill that seeks to legalize marijuana for recreational use in the state.

The Democratic-controlled House voted 98-45 against the bill on Monday. It will now be considered by the Republican-controlled Senate.

The bill would allow people ages 21 and older to possess up to an ounce of marijuana and would set up a system to regulate and tax the drug. It would have to be approved by voters in a statewide election.

Two groups have already launched referendum drives to try to get marijuana legalization proposals on the ballot next year.

Why Can't We Discuss Marijuana Honestly?

My home state of Maine is in the middle of a battle to let voters decide whether or not to allow marijuana to be legalized for recreational use. While there are certainly passionate people on both sides of the issue, there seems to be a lack of desire for honest discussion between the groups. Either marijuana is the best thing ever--or the worst.

Take for instance this exchange printed in the Bangor Daily News yesterday, in which an anti-marijuana legalization speaker described the effects of a "marijuana overdose." According to Bruce Campbell, the clinical director at an addiction treatment agency, it is "a problem" that marijuana overdoses do not resemble overdoses of alcohol or heroin.

Anti-marijuana program kicks off in Brewer Maine

BREWER, Maine — An organizer for a community education series intended to raise alarm over the pitfalls of marijuana legalization in Maine said turnout was low during their first public session because most people aren’t that concerned about marijuana.

In all, five people who were not affiliated with the Bangor Area Recovery Network attended the meeting Wednesday that featured a slideshow entitled “Marijuana in the New Millennium.”

Bangor-area group opposes efforts to legalize recreational marijuana

BREWER, Maine — The Bangor Area Recovery Network is hosting a series of community education sessions to discuss the potential pitfalls of legalizing recreational marijuana.

The sessions come as two petitions seek to place citizen-initiated referendums on the November 2016 ballot that would legalize recreational marijuana in Maine.

“Most of the people just assume this is going to happen, but the facts about this subject are being left out of the conversation,” said Jean Baker, an organizer, in a statement. “We need to hear both sides of the story.”
