Eugene Water & Electric Board sells building to marijuana development firm

The Eugene Water & Electric Board has sold a large west Eugene industrial building to a marijuana real estate firm for $3 million.

EWEB and New York-based Kalyx Development closed a deal Friday on the 107,000-square-foot building at 3590 W. Third Ave, according to a deed filed with Lane County.

Kalyx bills itself online as “the premier real estate development provider to emerging indoor agricultural operators on the national level.”

Its website doesn’t mention marijuana by name, but an online flier for this month’s Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition described Kalyx as “a leading cannabis real estate and property development firm.”

Presidential Candidate Rand Paul To Hold Reception At Marijuana Industry Event

It wasn’t that long ago that expressing support for marijuana reform was considered to be political suicide. That’s not to say that there weren’t political candidates that supported marijuana reform in the past, because there certainly were. However, those candidates were considered to be so far in the minority that they were on the fringe at best. That all changed in 2012. In 2012 two states legalized marijuana, and the game changed forever.

Company looks to open medical marijuana dispensary in Evans Mills

WATERTOWN — A Brooklyn-based company is hoping to set up a medical marijuana dispensary in Evans Mills.

Sheva Health and Wellness is one of 43 companies vying for a license to grow and dispense medical marijuana in New York.

The dispensary would be located at 26121 Route 11, Evans Mills, according to spokesman Glen Casey.

Joseph Levine, founding member of the company, said the Watertown area was a good fit due to its location in the state and for its thousands of nearby veterans linked to Fort Drum.

“As NY expands its list of medical conditions to perhaps include PTSD, SHW will be prepared to service this population,” he said, in a statement.

At Cannabis Trade Show, Vendors Tread a Careful Line

A question hung in the air at the Cannabis World Congress and Business Exposition at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan on Thursday: How do you show off your wares in a place where actually using them would be illegal?

The sales pitches were carefully honed.

“These are for tobacco only,” Raj Tiwary, a vice president for the vaping accessory maker Ultimate Vapor Source, said repeatedly, while demonstrating a line of pipes and pens. “Tobacco and dry herbs.”

Marijuana just might see a new home this year in the BIG APPLE

Medicinal cannabis pictured. Analysts believe that this bill would go forward even farther and result in the commercial consumption and sales of the drug.

Several states in America including Washington, Colorado and Alaska have legalized the consumption of Marijuana on the grounds of research and several studies which suggest that if consumed in moderation the drug famously known as “Weed” does not cause any lasting mental or physical health issues.

Marijuana advocates have been putting forward an argument saying that alcohol if consumed excessively poses the similar dangers as Marijuana yet it commercially available, therefore authorities should also legalize Marijuana.

Cuomo the final hurdle for emergency access to medical marijuana

Critically ill patients, including children with severe epilepsy, could gain faster access to medical marijuana under a bill passed by the state Senate on Monday and by the state Assembly earlier this month.

And for one local mother who has a daughter who has numerous seizures, access to medical marijuana can’t come soon enough.

That legislation, sponsored by state Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-Rome, would provide a process to give expedited access to medical marijuana to certain patients before the state’s medical marijuana program begins early next year.
