The call for making marijuana legal on different states is rapidly gaining pace as well as the profits gained from it. In a not so far future, legalizing it in every state is highly probable.

California together with Washington and 22 other states are now legalizing marijuana for medical use. Since 1996, it has gained momentum in the field of medicine and is prescribed by the physician for specific and different types of ailments. The Obama administration has removed some hurdles regarding the legalization of marijuana. Although government as a whole is still keen on keeping it illegal just like in the 1996 federal government.

You see, little Amylea has spent the majority of her life inside a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU.) This is because of seizures that began a day after she was brought home from her December delivery in New Mexico. While doctors at Children’s Hospital in Aurora have been attempting to treat her rare form of epilepsy, the medications are causing damage to her liver.

It is common for some jobs to have mandatory drug testing, but what happens when you are managing health problems with medical marijuana? Although medical marijuana is legal in 23 states as well as Washington, D.C., marijuana remains illegal on a federal level. This creates significant problems for those who depend on the product to control the numerous health issues THC seems to benefit. Can employers require information about medical marijuana use, and does HIPAA offer any protections?

Not surprisingly, EJ Montini was noticeably vague in his recent op-ed (”Blowing marijuana smoke into opponents' faces") accusing Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy of using “questionable” information in its arguments against legalizing marijuana. Nothing could be further from the truth. Consider the following:

When the U.S. Post Office seized a very smelly package of high-grade weed, they were sued – for intercepting a Church’s ‘sacramental’ cannabis.

The Oklevueha Native American Church says that cannabis and the powerful hallucinogen peyote are ‘sacred medicines’.

The Church said on its Facebook page, ‘Existing law requires government entities including the US Postal service and law enforcement to allow members of ONAC to possess, use and transport sacred medicines for spiritual and healing use regardless of whether or not those medicines and sacraments are otherwise controlled substances.

More Canadians are using medical marijuana for a wider array of health ailments, but the research hasn’t kept pace.

It was a watershed moment for the study of medical marijuana. This past December, Canadian university researchers, federal and provincial officials, patient advocates and industry representatives met in Vancouver to set priorities for evidence-based inquiries into a drug long overshadowed by its reputation as an illegal way to get high. The two-day, invitation-only meeting – convened by the Arthritis Society and partly funded by licensed growers of cannabis for medical purposes – is the latest sign that investigations of medical cannabis are moving into the research mainstream.

Marijuana use is on the rise, with an estimated 12.5 percent of adults living in the United States reportedly using the drug at least once in 2013, according to a new study that looked at drug usage over the span of a decade.

Cannabis-infused edibles are about far more than peace, love, and higher consciousness.

Peggy Noonan knows a thing or two about marijuana. She was a drug runner between Mexico and the U.S., before earning her living as a dealer in Arizona. Both stints ended badly, with Noonan serving time in a Mexican jail and slapped with federal probation in Arizona. All that feels like ancient history, says Noonan, who’s among the thousands of “ganjapreneurs” in the burgeoning market for edible marijuana products. “It was pretty wild, life coming full circle,” she says.

Oregonians can consume legal weed without emptying their wallets.

The Beaver State is home to the lowest average price of dispensary cannabis at $214 an ounce, according to an analysis by Perfect Price, a company that tracks the prices of a variety of goods including groceries, cleaning supplies and cannabis. The company looked at menu prices for cannabis flowers from about 6,000 dispensaries in six states with more than 200 dispensaries: Oregon, Colorado, Washington, Arizona, California and Michigan.
