5 Towns Saved from Ruin by the Booming Legal Weed Industry

The legal marijuana industry brought in upwards of $4 billion in sales in 2016, according to a new report from the Marijuana Business Daily. And small-town America is riding the high.

In the eight US states where recreational marijuana is legal, the marijuana "green rush" has breathed new life into the rural communities that welcome it. Cultivation facilities, dispensaries, and infused products companies create jobs and tax revenue for the cities and states, which then supports public infrastructure and community efforts.

Here are five towns that came back from the brink thanks to legal weed.

Santa Fe's Five Cannabis Dispensaries Serve a Growing Patient Base

New Mexico’s medical cannabis program is an ongoing experiment. Long-standing federal limits on research into the plant’s medical uses have forced patients, doctors and dispensary owners to improvise their ways to wellness; meanwhile state regulations keep a lid on unbounded growth the industry might otherwise see.

2016: 3,151

Will Cannabis be Federally Legal 5 years?

Legal Marijuana In 2020 Is The Prediction From Pro Cannabis Senators.

Over the past decade or so we have seen a vivid uptick in terms of support for legal cannabis. With 8 more states legalized marijuana in some form or another in November 2016, we know that a majority of Americans are on board with legal marijuana.

Of course, the current presidency has made it clear that they are not so keen on legalization, however knowing the cannabis industry, we will not go quietly into the night. Even under prohibition marijuana flourished, proving that you can’t keep a good weed down. And while the current administration might not be “friendly” with the idea of legal marijuana, there are other Congressmen that are singing to a different tune.

Why Does Cannabis Work for so Many Different Health Conditions?

Medical cannabis is not a panacea. Yet, the plant seems to work for so many different health conditions. With claims that cannabis heals everything from autism to breast cancer, it can certainly seem like a miracle cure.

Unfortunately, many of the health claims made about cannabis are not backed by high-quality scientific research. Though, this is not because the plant isn't beneficial.

Legal restrictions on cannabis cultivation and study around the world have barred scientists from working with the plant. This means that there are large gaps in the medical literature on the subject.

These gaps come in the form of blinded and placebo-controlled human clinical trials.

Cannabis and Skin Cancer

Cannabis oil as a sunscreen additive?

'I've been preaching about [how] cannabis cures cancer since 2008," Laurie Gaddis says. And she's been preaching it because it works.

Gaddis moved to Colorado from Arizona after she was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer she says comes from her father's exposure to Agent Orange in the Vietnam War. She says she's been a medical marijuana refugee for nearly a decade.

The patchwork of state laws under a federal ambiguity that has gotten worse with Attorney General Jeff Sessions' anti-pot statements has created hundreds of medical marijuana refugees who have to move to a state where they can get the kind of medicine either they or their doctor feel is necessary.

How Marketing Automation Helps Cannabis Companies Reach New Customers

For B2B companies in the cannabis industry, the importance of educating prospects and sharing informative content cannot be understated. But perhaps even more importantly, it’s important that people actually see and interact with that content.

It’s a tale as old as time: a newly-digital brand starts creating content, but never finds an audience to share that content with.

One retweet from a spam account later, and that thoughtfully prepared blog has hardly reached a single soul. You put it on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and even on Pinterest, but no one clicked! There’s got to be a better way!
