Most sophisticated marijuana plantation in Europe busted in Molina de Segura

Eight people have been arrested by the Guardia Civil in connection with a marijuana plantation in Molina de Segura which has been described by investigators as “the most sophisticated yet found in Europe”.

The group running the plantation, from where cannabis was shipped to the Netherlands, were growing 6,000 marijuana plants at the converted warehouse in the municipality of Molina, and had made use of expert technological and agrarian knowledge in setting up a plantation whose fixed asset value is estimated to be approximately a million euros. Apart from state-of-the-art refrigeration, lighting and watering equipment, all of which favoured rapid and efficient growth of the plants, there were also hydroponic cultivation systems in place (allowing the cannabis to grow in mineral solutions rather than in earth), and in addition high-power transformers and insulation equipment had been installed...
