Did the B.C. heat wave offer a bumper crop for cannabis?

B.C.'s heat wave saw cannabis crops thrive.

At least according to Tyler Bigattini, the master grower at Potanicals Green Growers Inc. in Peachland. He says plants cultivated in the company's greenhouse or those outdoors have taken off since last week’s blistering temperatures swept through the region.

“We hit like 45, 46 C last week,” he says. “You can use it to your advantage and use a little more CO2.”

“They flourished since the heat wave.”

July Is National Hemp Month

Parades, fireworks, and barbecues aside, July is notable for two other commemorative events much newer to the calendar than Independence Day. July is National Hemp Month, and the period from July 17-23 has been designated as Hemp History Week. National Hemp Month is the brainchild of cannabis company cbdMD, initiated on February 4, 2019 to promote the benefits and dispel myths surrounding hemp-based products. Hemp History Week is in its 12th year as an industry-wide, week-long educational campaign about hemp.

Uncertain Future: Will cannabis still be essential post-pandemic?

3 Keys to Building a Strong Cannabis Company Culture

An essential yet frequently overlooked piece of the brand expansion puzzle is culture. But culture isn’t something you can create and then walk away from. It requires nurturing, buy-in from your team, and a commitment to its growth.

When people talk about company culture, they typically envision a team grouping up at the launch of a business, but what many don’t realize is that organizational culture can be changed and strengthened at any stage of the business. As with other vital functions of a company, culture can weaken or get knocked off course for various reasons, like an acquisition or moving office locations – and, most recently, a global crisis with countless implications.

Why Curing Cannabis Is Critical to Plant Quality

A proper curing process is a key to producing a smooth, flavorful smoke representative of the most delicate buds. A recent blog post from Growlink outlines what curing cannabis is, and how to do it.

What Is Curing Cannabis?

Curing is a process that involves aging/drying harvested plant material to fine-tune the moisture content and allow for the decay of sugars and chlorophyll before consumption. Many plants are cured, such as cannabis, hemp, sagebrush, bay leaves, tea leaves, and tobacco.

What No One Tells You About Hemp Bioplastics

One of the most significant dangers to our wildlife, environment, and global climate is something nearly every person on Earth uses every single day: plastic (single-use plastic in particular).

It is devastating oceans and waterways, covering land and beaches, and filling landfills at a staggering rate.

This is not a problem we will be able to outrun.

Thankfully, there are cannabis companies across the globe dedicated to developing hemp-based solutions to our plastic problem.

Scientists are using hemp to create biodegradable plastics, called bioplastics, that are harmless to the environment and degrade in just a fraction of the time of standard single-use plastic.

Apple’s Decision To Allow Select Cannabis Brands On App Store Signals Incremental Acceptance Of Emerging Legal Market

The decision comes as tech giants continue to handle cannabis apps and accounts in often unclear ways.

As first reported by TechCrunch and WeedWeek, the ongoing conundrum between cannabis and tech took its latest turn last month, when Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) updated its policies to allow pot-centric apps onto its store.

Under its new policy, Apple created leeway that allows “licensed and otherwise legal cannabis dispensaries” from working with Apple. Companies must also be geofenced to qualify for store listing.
