A Canadian man who works in Singapore has been jailed for 16 weeks after trying to enter the country with a cannabis vape pen that contained tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

According to a report from TODAY, 29-year-old Daniel Moher was gifted the pen, which contained 0.35 grams of liquid, by a friend in Canada. Moher then attempted to conceal it inside a deodorant bottle when he returned to Singapore.

The court heard that Moher has been grieving the loss of another friend and was consuming cannabis to cope.

The legal cannabis industry is booming virtually anywhere sales are allowed.

For most legal cannabis countries, the industry is limited to just medical cannabis. After all, only Uruguay and Canada allow adult-use sales at the national level so far.

Of course, some areas in the United States also allow legal adult-use cannabis sales, but not the entire country.

New Zealand almost became the third country to legalize cannabis for adult use in 2020 with a legalization measure on the ballot. Unfortunately, the measure was turned down by voters.

This year a handful of countries may legalize cannabis. Mexico and Israel seem to be all but certain to get legalization to the finish line in 2021, with a few other countries also pursuing legalization.

The United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) has voted to remove cannabis from the list of the most dangerous substance.

According to the UN news portal, in reviewing a series of World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations on cannabis and its derivatives, CND zeroed in on the decision to remove cannabis from Schedule IV of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.

Under the schedule, cannabis was listed alongside specific deadly, addictive opioids, including heroin, recognised as having little to no therapeutic purpose.

But for the rest of us, high-quality cannabis is usually fairly expensive.

Five people are facing charges after a Saskatoon police investigation led by the guns and gangs unit.

Originally, police were investigating information that a home on the 1700 block of 2nd Avenue N. may have been selling drugs and that the people involved may have had a weapon.

On Tuesday, police pulled over a Buick Regal at Assiniboine Drive and Warman Road. According to a news release, police arrested a person in the car wanted in connection with the drug house investigation.

Officers allegedly found numerous cell phones in the car, as well as a meth pipe and various identity documents, some of which had been reported stolen. Police also say they found a conducted energy weapon, a knife, a machete, a meat cleaver and open alcohol.

Chatham-Kent police have seized more than 25,000 marijuana plants worth $25.5 million after dismantling four illegal grow-ops in the region over the last few months, according to a news release. 

Since September, Chatham-Kent police have dismantled four illegal cannabis operations in the region, three of which were uncovered in January. 

"This past year, a significant amount of cannabis associated to illegal drug operations has been found in Chatham-Kent," Chatham-Kent police chief Gary Conn said in a news release. "These operations will not be tolerated here in our community as we know their actions may lead to violent behaviour, property crimes and organized crime."

The amount of liquid marijuana seized in Japan has been surging, putting police and customs authorities on high alert.

The estimated amount of marijuana in liquid form confiscated by Tokyo Customs in 2020 jumped nearly 70 times from the previous year’s level. A customs official described the situation as “an explosive increase.”

The liquid extracted from marijuana plants has a higher content of hallucinogenic tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, than dried cannabis and can be used in a similar way to electronic cigarettes.

“Many users are youngsters,” an official at Tokyo’s Metropolitan Police Department said. “My impression is that it has been in wider use for the past 10 years or so.”
