Demand Is Booming For Delta-8

According to the January 2021 Hemp Benchmarks report, there is an increasing demand for delta-8 THC, which is not derived from hemp plant material but synthesized from extracted CBD. This is helping drive sales of crude CBD oil, CBD Isolate, and some wholesale CBD products. As the popularity of delta-8 THC increases, Hemp Benchmarks observed a consistent decline in prices. Despite the fact that trading volumes of delta-8 THC remain a small proportion of those for CBD products, it is the fastest-growing product in the hemp sector as of the January report. A Tennessee processor told Hemp Benchmarks that they have seen as many as about 20% of their CBD customers shift to purchasing delta-8 THC.

Meet the former correctional officer fighting to overturn Manitoba’s ban on home growing

Late last month, about 2,500 pages of documents landed on the desks of Manitoba government officials.

The documents contained eight affidavits and the package was courtesy of Jesse Lavoie, a 28-year-old former correctional officer, who has filed a constitutional challenge against the Manitoba government’s ban on home growing. Lavoie is represented by attorneys from Chornopyski Law.

Under the federal Cannabis Act, Canadians are legally allowed to grow up to four cannabis plants per residence. Unless they live in Quebec or Manitoba, that is, where provincial governments moved to ban home cultivation.

The Most Popular Marijuana Consumption Methods

Cannabis is a big business. Consumer spending in the US is set to rise by $13bn in the four years from 2018, as legalization hits more states and the medical cannabis sector continues to thrive. Analysis of this booming trade indicates that medical marijuana dispensaries are turning over more money per square foot of retail space than Apple Stores and Tiffany’s.

One consequence of this incredible increase in activity is the innovations and advancements in how marijuana is consumed. These new consumption methods have opened the doors of the marijuana world to a whole new audience, especially those who are consuming cannabis for medicinal purposes.

Does CBD Have Anti-Aging Benefits?

Cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN, THC) are known to provide all sorts of benefits for seniors, from relieving arthritis pain and inflammation to strengthening and improving brain function. But there is another critical benefit that cannabinoids offer seniors, and it has a lot to do with the aging process. Let's explore.

The human body has an Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which means that we naturally produce cannabinoids (this is why they are called Endocannabinoids as in "within" ). Cannabinoids are also found in hemp and marijuana plants (called Phytocannabinoids).  Most importantly, both types of cannabinoids function the same way and provide similar health benefits in the body.

THC vs. CBD: Differences and Benefits

Cannabis contains more than 100 cannabinoids. However, there are two that are the main and the most popular ones. These two cannabinoids differ in effects and legal status. We talk about THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol). Each one produces something different and contributes both to the sensation that marijuana produces and its therapeutic applications. Knowing both compounds allows you to better choose the variety when growing, as well as knowing what to look for according to whether you want something recreational or medicinal. The other components can also influence our body, but they are more difficult to isolate and we know less about their possible effects.

Canadian retail sales of cannabis double in December 2020 compared to December 2019

For retailers of cannabis, 2020 likely marks a temporary high point, according to new figures from Statistics Canada.

Year-to-year sales of cannabis as measured in dollars roughly doubled in 2020, from about $148 million in December 2019 to $298 million in December 2020. It is important to point out that cannabis retailers currently account for a tiny share of overall retail following the legalization of cannabis sales in the fall of 2018. Retail sales in December 2020 alone totalled $53.4 billion and $606 billion for all of 2020.
