‘Coronation Street’ bosses are planning to air a new drugs storyline in February, according to reports.

Sources have revealed that Izzy Armstrong will be seen turning to cannabis, when her medication fails to provide suitable pain relief.

It’s believed that Izzy will confide in Erica about her difficulties, and Claire King’s character will then suggest that she tries smoking marijuana, before adding that she knows where to purchase some.

Closing time can be 10 p.m. instead of 7 p.m.

The five licensed marijuana sales shops in unincorporated Boulder County can stay open longer at night, starting on New Year's Day.

Boulder County commissioners on Thursday formally adopted a resolution making multiple changes to the county's marijuana licensing regulations, including one that will allow medical and retail marijuana stores to operate from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.

Under the county's current rules, licensed pot shops must close their doors to customers at 7 p.m.

While Gov. Jack Markell has come out against legalizing marijuana in Delaware, the state has followed others in the country and loosened it pot laws during his tenure.

On Friday, a new state law decriminalizing the possession and personal use of up to an ounce of marijuana went into effect.

Some believe this a step toward the eventual full legalization. Others, like Markell, oppose it wholeheartedly.

We believe Markell’s successor would be wise to at least sanction a comprehensive study of marijuana legalization in Delaware.

ACHORAGE, Alaska — Officials say they had to discard hundreds of tubes of lip balm that were distributed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richards after they were found to have hemp seed oil as an ingredient, which contains trace amounts of THC.

The base’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office had been distributing the lip balm as it typically does with other promotional items, like water bottles and calendars, The Alaska Dispatch News reported. JBER spokesman 1st Lt. Michael Harrington said the lip balm was purchased mistakenly.

“Not everybody thinks to check the ingredients list on ChapStick,” said Harrington.

The lip balm contained hemp seed oil, which is banned under U.S. Army and Air Force regulations.

UNION GAP, Washington -- Marijuana-themed Christmas gifts are popular in states like Washington where marijuana has been made legal. Marijuana retailers said, like most businesses, their sales are higher during the holidays.

"They are flying off the shelves this year," Sara Hecker, who works at Station 420, said about its Christmas-themed gift baskets. The baskets contain a starter glass pipe, rolling papers and of course some pot.

The legalization of marijuana in Washington is just barely three years old, but retailers said they have already seen negative stigmas dissipate as more states follow suit. Retailers said it would not be long before finding a bag of weed under the Christmas tree is normal.

In 2010, Patricia Spottencrow, an Oklahoma mother of four, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for selling just $31 worth of Marijuana. For many, the sentence was too harsh, especially since the convicted woman was a first time offender who had fallen on hard times.

But imagine how harder it has been for Rich Paul who had to stare down at a sentence of more than 80 years in a U.S prison for Marijuana; or Larry Duke, a Vietnam war veteran who is also serving life imprisonment for marijuana in the United States.

The possession of small amounts of marijuana becomes legal starting Friday in Delaware, which joins 18 other states that have removed criminal penalties for carrying the drug. With four states and the District of Columbia having legalized recreational possession of cannabis in the last two years, reformers hope smaller steps like Delaware's will pave the way for the defeat of prohibition nationwide. 

The Delaware state legislature in June passed a bill removing harsh criminal penalties for simple possession of up to an ounce of the drug, which had previously been punishable with three months in jail. It now becomes a civil violation with a fine, much like a traffic ticket. 

The Solicitor General of the United Sates says that recreational marijuana is Colorado’s business and there is no need for the U.S. Supreme Court to review claims from Nebraska and Oklahoma that they are owed something because the legal weed is being trafficked beyond the Centennial State’s borders.
