Morocco: Is cannabis cultivation (really) in smoke?

For several years, the annual reports of the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the International Narcotics Control Strategy Report (INCSR) indicate a net decrease in the production of cannabis cultivation in Morocco. But if the land areas used for this crop have undoubtedly been reduced since that Rabat has engaged in a "war against drugs" in 1992, cannabis resin production has not decreased in same proportions.

A real gap between the assessment of Moroccan hashish production made by UNODC or INCSR and quantities of cannabis seized in Europe and Morocco, thus casting serious doubt on the figures.

House Republicans say no to allowing federal studies of medical marijuana

By ,

Medical marijuana is now sold in nearly half of all states, and even one red state has legalized it for recreational use. Veterans of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are clamoring for access to treat post-traumatic stress disorder. Loosening pot laws polls better in three swing states than any 2016 presidential candidate.

Oregonians Can Now Fly With Recreational Marijuana — As Long As They’re Traveling Within The State

The friendly skies over Oregon just got a bit friendlier to residents who don’t want to leave their weed at home: Airport officials at Portland International Airport said travelers can now legally board planes with up to an ounce of marijuana — for in-state flights only, of course.

Officials point out that Transportation Security Administration is not focused on finding marijuana, but instead would rather expend energy keeping up with security and safety issues, reports UPI.

JUNEAU -- A trade association has been created to promote the nascent legal marijuana business in Alaska.

Four of the five board members of the Alaska Marijuana Industry Association held a news conference Thursday in Anchorage to discuss the group's formation; the event was teleconferenced. State records show the group received status as a nonprofit corporation in late April. The goal was to announce shortly after that, but those involved have been busy working at the local level to help set up the industry, board member and vice president Brandon Emmett said in explaining the timing of Thursday's announcement.

Is a Cannabinoid as Sweet by Any Other Name?

What do the names of synthetic cannabinoids tell us about modern life?

About fifteen years ago, I acted for a time as what might be called the vulgarity correspondent of a British newspaper of enormous circulation, whose own attitude towards vulgarity could best be described as ambivalent. In theory, it was against vulgarity; but in practice, it did much to advance vulgarity’s cause.

Matthew in the Middle: Cannabis Dreaming

Regardless of where you stand on the cannabis industry, I believe we all can agree on a few points:

  • Prohibition in the United States failed because people wanted to drink alcohol.
  • Every business in America has rules, regulations and pays taxes – except one: drug dealers.
  • The cannabis environmental damage to the North Coast is out of control and something needs to be done about this now.
  • Cannabis legalization for recreational purposes is most likely coming to California in November 2016.
