Dumb Parents Need to Stop Letting Their Young Kids Eat Weed Brownies

According to a new study, children under the age of six are being exposed to marijuana products more than ever. But instead of an alarmist report about peer-pressured toddlers in preschool, research shows that the little rascals might accidentally be getting into weed edibles around the house.

Earlier this month, the Clinical Pediatrics Journal published data gathered from poison control centers across the United States. According to their findings, while it is still uncommon for children to be exposed to marijuana and THC products, states that legalized the product saw as large as a 600 percent increase in exposures, mostly by ingestion.

"We got a call for an accident hit and run. (The) vehicle took off. There (was) a witness following the vehicle and stated the vehicle was all over the road," said SAPD Salvador Mena.

The driver was taken into custody on felony charges, as well as DWI charges.

'Get Baked Sale' in San Francisco to showcase edible marijuana – strictly for medicinal purposes ...

SAN FRANCISCO – If a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, imagine what a pancake breakfast might do for medical marijuana.

Marijuana is only legal for medical purposes in California, but that isn’t stopping purveyors of pot-infused cupcakes, nuts and other edible forms of the drug from putting on an outdoor food festival to showcase their wares.

The “Get Baked Sale” happening Saturday at a food truck hub in San Francisco comes as marijuana advocates are working to legalize recreational use of the drug through a statewide voter initiative in November 2016.

A weed-infused cream of celery soup that will change your mind on celery

I know what you are thinking without you saying a word: “Why would I waste my cannabutter on a cream of celery soup, Laurie?”

But this soup will change your mind about cream of celery soup — it’s a valid use of your valuable cannabutter, I promise.

Personally I don’t mind a crunchy celery stick, particularly when it’s sticking out of a Bloody Mary, but this recipe is going to change the way we all think about this least-loved member of the apiaceae family, which also includes carrots and parsley. (Speaking of: This is a family of plants with hollow stems. Weird.)

On Course for Regulated Personal Cultivation in Ecuador

In Ecuador important advances have been made in the area of drug policy, with civil society playing an active part in them. The country's National Assembly is currently debating a bill: "Organic Law for the Comprehensive Prevention of Drugs and the Use of Catalogued Substances Subject to Regulation.”

In 1998 the country revised its “Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act” (Act 108), under which consumption was decriminalised. However, there existed legal contradictions and flaws that ended up penalising users and consumers for holding, possession and transport, without any criterion of proportionality, all entailing sentences of 12-16 years.

Israeli Father Of Medical Marijuana A Bit Of A Buzzkill

This month’s National Geographic magazine features an interview with Raphael Mechoulam, the Israeli chemist known worldwide as the founder of medical marijuana research, as part of a cover story entitled “Weed: The New Science of Marijuana.”

Mechoulam’s early discoveries include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient in cannabis plants, and cannabidiol (CBD), another key ingredient with potential medical benefits but none of the mind-altering effects. He conducted this groundbreaking research in the sixties with Lebanese hashish confiscated by the Israeli national police.

Holland public opinion firmly in favour of full cannabis legalisation

A recent opinion poll in Holland showed a staggering 70% of people are now firmly in favour of a complete overhaul of Dutch cannabis laws and want to see a regulated system for the supply of cannabis.  Currently possession of small amounts of cannabis are tolerated, and the famous Dutch Coffee shops allow people to buy small amounts of cannabis for personal medical or recreational use.  But the supply of cannabis to coffee shops remains completely illegal.  The survey by Motivaction also showed that 61% want to see a system of permits introduced for controlled production of cannabis.

Colorado schools to track marijuana offenses by students

Colorado schools will begin compiling data on students who get busted for using or distributing marijuana, an effort aimed at gauging the effects of the drug's legalization in the state.

The new requirement is an addition to a 2012 law directing law enforcement and district attorneys to collect information on how students are punished and whether they're being arrested or ticketed when they should be disciplined by educators for minor offenses.

Schools have been tracking all drug offenses involving students, but marijuana has not been separated on its own. Anecdotally, some schools say they've noticed an increase in marijuana use while others have not, according to Jane Urschel, deputy executive director of the Colorado Association of School Boards.
