Marijuana K-cups and coffee pods are here

Making cannabis coffee is now as simple as inserting a pod and pushing a button.

In Seattle, Uncle Ike’s Pot Shop sells pods of Catapult “premium infused coffee” for $10 each. The pods work in standard, single-serve coffee makers and contain 10 mg of THC, a quantity of marijuana's active ingredient that's becoming something of a standard serving for marijuana edibles.

“I liken it to a Red Bull and vodka,” Uncle Ike’s sales manager Jennifer Lanzador said. “I had more energy, but I still had the relaxation you get from cannabis.”

The Great Pot Experiment

Legalization keeps rolling ahead. But because of years of government roadblocks on research, we don’t know nearly enough about the dangers of marijuana—or the benefits

Yasmin Hurd raises rats on the Upper East Side of Manhattan that will blow your mind.

Though they look normal, their lives are anything but, and not just because of the pricey real estate they call home on the 10th floor of a research building near Mount Sinai Hospital. For skeptics of the movement to legalize marijuana, the rodents are canaries in the drug-policy coal mine. For defenders of legalization, they are curiosities. But no one doubts that something is happening in the creatures’ trippy little brains.

Watch: Inside a Christian Pot Shop

God told Moses to go down the mountain. He told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his only son. And, according to Bryan Davies, he made another commandment to a California couple circa 2005: “Open up a pot shop.”

That marijuana smell: Officials eye grows in Colorado mountain town

Pitkin County commissioners met privately with their attorney Wednesday to discuss their potential legal standing in the neighborhood flap over cannabis smells emitting from a Basalt-area grow facility.

Attorney John Ely could not comment about the half-hour talk but said a work session will be held for the public to chime in on the odors that originate from the High Valley Farms indoor grow center, which supplies Silverpeak Apothecary’s medical and recreational dispensaries in Aspen. The farm and the dispensaries share common ownership.

It’s not just High Valley Farms that’s responsible for the stench, said Mimi Trombatore, an employee of Gallegos Corp., which has offices in the Holland Hills Business Center.

What will marijuana tourism look like in Central Oregon?

A future Central Oregon attraction may not be another craft brewery, but a marijuana grow site where tourists can pick up samples and see how the formerly illegal cannabis plant is cultivated.

Portland will likely be the primary destination for marijuana tourism in Oregon, but Bend and Central Oregon could also see an influx with visitors combining their trips to grow sites with other amenities the region has to offer. The ability for tour companies to operate and offer something like the Bend Ale Trail or a vineyard-style tour is contingent on rulemaking currently being considered by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and state legislators.

Rastafari couple says marijuana laws unfair to their faith

SOUTH BEND — When a judge this week sentenced Jerome Scott for growing dozens of marijuana plants in his South Bend home last year, the 18 months of probation, a relatively light penalty for a felony conviction, didn’t bother him.

Scott, 30, didn’t even contest the fact that he was growing the weed. But he and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Melanie Schmidt, see the state's marijuana laws as unjust and offered an unusual argument as they fought to have his felony reduced to a misdemeanor.

Rise in cannabis farms linked to new BBC show 'Hash in the Attic'

An increase in the number of cannabis farms detected by the police in the UK has been attributed to a controversial new daytime TV show on BBC1, ‘Hash in the Attic’. Hosted by Gloria Hunniford and Aled Jones and aimed at students and the unemployed, the programme hopes to raise money for the households they visit by using their lofts to cultivate vast crops of illegal drugs and then sell them at auctions on the street corner.

Celebrities on Cannabis: Jackie Chan vs. Morgan Freeman

International action star Jackie Chan and Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman have come out on opposite sides of the marijuana debate in the last few weeks, begging the question: who would win if the two were to fight?

Chan, known for films like “Rumble in the Bronx” and the “Drunken Master” series, who also serves as an official Narcotics Control Ambassador for the Chinese government, spoke out in defense of China’s tough anti-drug laws at a recent anti-drug press conference in Singapore, stating that he supports the death sentence for some offenders.
