Lacombe County approves cannabis operation

A cannabis production facility has been approved in Lacombe County.

The county’s municipal planning commission unanimously approved an application by High Grade Farms Inc. to build and operate a 5,300-square-foot production facility on a 92-acre site about 20 km northwest of Bentley.

An existing homestead and workshop will be used as part of the operation and a new greenhouse for cannabis cultivation will be built, says the company’s application. About 67 acres not needed for cannabis production will be used to grow hemp.

High Grade Farms Inc. was previously approved for a 15,000-square-foot cannabis operation at the same location.

Super troopers: Cops in Calgary authorized to consume marijuana off duty

The police department “analyzed the substance use policy and transitioned to fitness for work policy instead of zero-tolerance.”

The Calgary Police Department in Alberta, Canada, lifted the ban on cannabis use for its officers.

According to Industria 420, the consumption of psychoactive cannabis will only be allowed during free time as long as it does not interfere with the duties of police personnel.

Speaking to the Calgary Herald, Andrea Urquhat, Director of Human Resources, explained, “We analyzed the substance use policy and transitioned to fitness for work policy instead of zero-tolerance. There is no evidence that this particular change is detrimental to our fundamental goal of serving and protecting.”

Off-duty cannabis prohibition for Calgary police officers lifted

More than three years after recreational cannabis was legalized, a total ban on its use among uniformed Calgary Police Service members has ended.

As of Tuesday, sworn off-duty CPS personnel are allowed to consume the drug as long as it doesn’t interfere with their duties.

Driving violations spark traffic stop, seizure of cannabis shatter and wax

No seatbelt and yapping on a cellphone were more than enough to attract the attention of an Alberta RCMP traffic officer who stopped a driver and subsequently discovered weed products in the vehicle.

The stop occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 8, according to CTV News. Tellingly, the officer was working a Safe Roads Enhanced Enforcement shift in Airdrie, Alta. at the time, per Airdrie Today.
