California: Distributor Fills Niche For Medical Marijuana Patients

As medical and recreational marijuana use becomes increasingly accepted in the United States, one Petaluma company is carving a niche as southern Sonoma County and northern Marin County’s medical marijuana provider, operating with a business model that eschews the brick-and-mortar dispensary in favor of in-home service.

Trading on the city’s name, Cannaluma Health & Wellness — the moniker is a combination of “cannabis” and “Petaluma” — has added an average of 100 clients each month since launching in early 2014, said co-founder Nicoma Campbell. The company delivers marijuana and prepared cannabis products to individuals throughout the region, all of whom join as co-owners of the company.

Ohio prepares to vote on marijuana legalization: which states will be next?

With legalized recreational marijuana riding a winning streak since 2012, California, Massachusetts and Arizona are among top contenders to OK the substance – and more states could follow.

Ohio officials approved a bid last week to get recreational and medical marijuana legalization on the 3 November ballot. Thus far, Ohio is the only state where voters will consider pot legalization in the 2015 election. But that’s not because many states aren’t already eyeing their own marijuana campaigns.

California Will Legalize Recreational Marijuana In 2016 According to Lt. Governor

I had a conversation Friday night with a reporter from a very large media company. During that conversation I expressed concern for California’s 2016 marijuana election efforts. I told the reporter that it would really suck if California failed, again, in 2016. Winning in other states would be great, don’t get me wrong, but California is the biggest ‘prize’ of 2016. A 2016 victory in California would signal the beginning of the end for national cannabis prohibition in my opinion. A loss in California would not be the beginning of the end for legalization efforts (as much as opponents like to think it would), but it would delay things on a national scale in my opinion.

California marijuana farmers face country's first water-related regulations

Regulators in California’s north coast region have passed the country’s first rules governing the water-related impact of marijuana cultivation.

The new regulations will force pot growers to be responsible for anycontamination of water or land degradation.

But, despite the 5-1 vote, the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board is unlikely to face a smooth roll-out of the new oversight and regulation.

A Day in the Life of a Cannabis Farmer - thebolditalic

*Some names have been changed to protect the sources’ identity.

Many of us hardly stop to think about where our weed comes from. Beyond the standard plastic bag exchange, marijuana’s origins generally remain a mystery. So, when I connected with a handful of cannabis farmers to better understand their lives I hardly knew what to expect. My mind flashed between media headlines – ‘marijuana grow disguised as furniture store,’ or ‘cannabis farm fronts as cherry factory.’ Yet, I stumbled onto an entirely different culture – one comprised of spiritual folks and avid farmers working with everything from indoor rooms to acres of sun-kissed land.

So, here’s a chance to get to know five different cannabis farmers, some of which may have grown the greens you last toked.
