Emerald Test Results Show High Standards for Inter-Laboratory Comparison Proficiency Testing

Emerald Scientific has announced the results for its 2016 Emerald Test, and cannabis testing labs earned impressive scores. Nearly 50 labs entered the company’s semi-annual Inter-lab Comparison and Proficiency Test, which measures a lab’s ability to determine amounts of cannabinoids and residual solvents in an unknown sample.

“This is a very positive sign for the industry,” commented Wes Burk, Vice President of Emerald Scientific. “Labs across the country performed better than expected and in line with testing parameters used by non-cannabis industries.”

‘Out in the Sun, Out in the Wind’: Opening a Cannabis Business in a Gray Market

Wednesday, a well-known cannabis extraction company, Care By Design was raided in Sonoma County. A company spokesperson insists the business was in the process of being permitted. The DEA and Santa Rosa police raided it just as the city was developing an ordinance which will allow some types of cannabis extraction. Law enforcement, however, seized assets and put one man in jail. According to the Press Democrat, Narcotics Sgt. Rich Celli of the Santa Rosa Police stated, “Many people believe the law is in flux — it’s not, don’t do it.”

Last week's police raid on a major California cannabis company in Sonoma County came after a disgruntled former employee, who is attempting to form his own competing company, called the authorities on his old employer, an attorney said Friday.

Santa Rosa police and Drug Enforcement Administration agents wearing camouflage and kevlar descended on the production facilities and offices of CBD Guild, which manufactures popular cannabis products under the Care By Design and AbsoluteXtracts brand names.

Police raids hit major Northern California medical marijuana brands

California lawmakers regulated medical marijuana in black and white last year, but with rules set to take effect by 2018, there’s plenty of gray area to generate busts between now and then.

A popular medical cannabis brand in that gray area in Northern California was the subject of a local law enforcement sweep, according to scattered reports from sources today.

ACLU California Announces Support of Marijuana Legalization Ballot Measure

The American Civil Liberties Union of California on Tuesday endorsed the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, or AUMA — Californians’ ballot measure that would legalize cannabis in the 2016 general election.
