Large Law Office Pivots Towards the Legal Cannabis Industry

A Florida-based firm is opening three new offices in cities where cannabis is an emerging industry, and it has plans to open more.

Another sign of how the legal cannabis industry is growing and maturing: the arrival of established law firms, looking to represent those involved in what was once an outlaw enterprise.

New CannaDx app tells users what's in their joint

MyDx wants its customers to know exactly what’s in the food they eat, the water they drink — and the cannabis they smoke.

The San Diego company launched an upgraded smartphone app, dubbed CannaDx, that lets users test the chemical components of marijuana. According to the company, the app analyzes the levels of THC — the ingredient in marijuana responsible for the high — as well as about 20 other compounds found in the drug. Smokers can use the app to correlate what they feel with certain chemical compounds, and thereby build a profile that shows how different compounds affect them. Users also have access to a database that catalogs anonymous data reported by other users.

The documentary, directed by Eric Weinrib, had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015 and hits theaters and on-demand July 1.

Bigger, Better: Canabis in California

For decades, cannabis cultivators, dispensaries and patients have faced raids and incarceration for growing, distributing and consuming cannabis.

The constant fear of police, property loss and expensive legal defense costs has created generations of cultivators who invested the bare minimum into materials and infrastructure. Cheap equipment, unlicensed contractors and lack of code-enforcement guidelines created ideal conditions for fire hazards and excessive waste.

Los Angeles Restaurant Unveils CANNABIS Cocktails... And You Don't Need a Medical Marijuana Card to Indulge

A Los Angeles restaurant has unveiled a menu of cannabis cocktails.

Gracias Madre, a high-end celebrity favorite that serves vegan Mexican food, now offers three elegant beverages infused with CBD, one of the two cannabinoid stimulants found in weed.

Diners do not need a medical marijuana card to consume the $20 drinks.

The recipes were designed by Jason Eisner, the head bartender at West Hollywood's Gracias Madre, who honed his craft in New York City's top cocktail clubs.

Eisner has sourced the cannabinoid oil for his creations from a grower in San Diego.

True to the restaurant's healthy-eating form, the oil is branded as 100 per cent organic.

Misinformation of marijuana water consumption should not demonize crop

Amber Norori’s oped on April 19 (“Legalization of marijuana could promote drought alleviation”) contains many fallacies, leading the author to false conclusions.

She writes, “The average cannabis plant needs 6 gallons of water a day and has an average 150-day grow cycle, so for a medium sized grow with about 500 plants, that would be a total of 450,000 gallons for one harvest of one plot. To put this water use into perspective, the amount of water needed to raise cannabis is double the amount of water needed to grow grapes.”

Up to 12 States Could Vote on Marijuana This November

Marijuana legalization has been growing like a weed for the past two decades, but 2016 could prove to be its most monumental year yet. Although marijuana has gained 24 state approvals for medicinal use, and four states have legalized its recreational use, we could see up to 12 separate approvals for the currently illicit drug in November.

This expansion is especially important because current President Barack Obama has suggested that the best way to get the attention of Congress is to continue legalizing the drug at the state level. Doing so would eventually force lawmakers to reconsider the federal government's current Schedule 1 stance on the drug.
