Inventor of the Renew Sports Car says he was “about seven years ahead of [his] time."

The cannabis car may never have hit the road officially, but its approach to reducing the carbon footprint still holds promise.

Created in 2015, the Renew Sports Car often referred to as the hemp car, featured “a carbon negative, hemp fiber body which was up to 46 per cent lighter than aluminum.”

Using carbon-negative fibre — of which hemp is the primary ingredient — would prevent two tons of carbon dioxide “from being dumped into our atmosphere,” the company website claimed.

Many pot stocks have, well, gone to pot over the past year or so. Most of the leaders in the Canadian and U.S. cannabis industries have seen their shares plunge. But that doesn't mean there aren't some good picks for long-term investors.

We asked three Motley Fool contributors to identify the top pot stocks for 2022. Here's why they chose Innovative Industrial Properties (NYSE: IIPR), Trulieve Cannabis (OTC: TCNNF), and Village Farms International (NASDAQ: VFF).

Last month, Cann — a sparkling, cannabis-laced beverage that gets you high — raised $27 million from investors as marijuana legalization rolls out in states across the US. That was after it nabbed the “Royal Tenenbaums” actress as an investor in an earlier seed round.

Nevertheless, winning over Paltrow wasn’t quick or easy, according to Cann co-founder Luke Anderson. In February 2020, he says he scored a meeting with the Hollywood star-turned-wellness impresaria to pitch the THC- and CBD-laced beverage, which had debuted months earlier in 2019.

Vancouver-based TAAT Global Alternatives, a manufacturer of hemp-based cigarettes,  recently announced it would acquire HLND Holdings, Inc., the parent entity of a convenience and tobacco wholesaler based in Ohio. This follows an October announcement that the company received $8 million from a group of private investors led by Debbie Chang. Chang is the co-founder of Horizons Ventures, which serves as the venture capital arm of billionaire Hong Kong business magnate Li Ka-shing.

We often discuss the impact of cardio and how it can help you lead a longer and healthier life, not to mention lose weight. But a new study shows that muscle-building exercises have their own set of benefits, including preventing and reducing odds of developing and dying from a variety of conditions.

The study, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, showed that muscle-building activities are linked with 10% to 20% less risk of dying from a chronic illness, providing protection from serious conditions like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and more.

A bright future lies ahead for these pot stocks.

Cannabis stocks might be having a hard time now due to the lack of positive movement toward U.S. federal legalization. But states have understood the benefits of legalization. So as long as states continue to push toward legalizing marijuana at the medical and/or recreational level, cannabis companies will keep growing.

The industry is loaded with sizzling stocks that are performing staggeringly well amid a limited legal market. If there is more state legalization in 2022, this will create room for these companies to expand. Most cannabis stocks are available at a bargain rate now, but in my opinion, these three are the right ones to buy and hold for another decade. 

Cannabis companies continue to struggle with inconsistent guidelines and the arbitrary enforcement of Terms of Service imposed by social media sites like Facebook Meta and Instagram, but social media marketing is not a platform that any business can afford to overlook. Cannabis is big business in the USA now that many states have legalized it for recreational use. Others have decriminalized the use of weed while in some states it is still against the law to possess or grow cannabis. The first thing to do is check that weed is legal in your location.

Why do people use cannabis, and is there a ‘proper’ way? For some people, cannabis is a lifeline to a more comfortable life. Medical cannabis can be prescribed for many ailments – especially those where chronic pain is a problem – as the plant has proven properties in pain reduction and other medical uses.
