That was a dopey thing to do!

Drug dealer caught after police discover stoned-looking SELFIE he took in front of his cannabis factory

This is the moment a dopey drug dealer sealed his fate after taking an incriminating selfie in front of his cannabis stash.

The photo of a spaced-out Richard Edmunds, 25, giving the thumbs up for the camera was released after he admitted drugs charges in court.

The picture in which he inadvertently traps himself was one of several found by police showing off the stash of Edmunds and his housemate Joshua Langmead, alongside incriminating messages on six different mobile phones.

Baroness Hamwee: 'It is time to legalise cannabis for medicinal purposes'

The Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Home Affairs, Baroness Hamwee, argues that the Government missed an opportunity to reclassify cannabis for medical purposes as part of the Psychoactive Substances Bill.

It’s quite usual for Bills to attract amendments which are wide of the Government’s intentions.  In the Lords we have been dealing with the Psychoactive Substances Bill, which imposes a blanket ban on all “legal highs” (or attempts to do so – history does not show that prohibition works, rather that it pushes the market underground and towards sometimes more harmful substances), and the Liberal Democrats saw the Bill as an opportunity to raise the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

UK: Police force gives cannabis users green light to grow drugs

Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg says the force will not proactively target small scale cannabis producers who are growing for their own use

A police force has given drug users the green light to grow cannabis at home after declaring that officers will no longer proactively target small scale producers.

In a move, which will be seen as a further step towards decriminalisation, Durham Police has said it will only go after people growing and using the drug if there is a complaint or if they are being “blatant”.

5 Reasons to Regulate the UK Cannabis Market

Cannabis Social Clubs have appeared in European countries to offer cannabis consumers and medical cannabis patients a safer alternative and a solution to the problems that prohibition causes in society.

Part of the reason the UK Cannabis Social Clubs exists is to inform existing consumers of the CSC model and it’s benefits over the current “free-for-all” market that has flourished under prohibition. The results of this are drastically inflated prices, unacceptable quality such as contamination, mould, under weight deals, early harvested product and no protection for those that are vulnerable such as the young. Dealers don’t ask for ID but most (not all) will happily take a teenagers money.

Someone’s going around planting cannabis in Britain’s flowerbeds

Something doesn’t look right about these flowerbeds.

It’s probably the fact that someone has planted cannabis plants in them – and they’re standing out like a sore thumb.

The plants were spotted in the sleepy Hertfordshire town of Welwyn Garden City, and were put there by a secretive group called the Welwyn Garden City Cannabis Club.

Speaking to the Welwyn Hatfield Times, one of the group explained that the stunt aimed to highlight the benefits that cannabis plants can offer.

UK: What would a fresh weed brand look like?

Courier set branding agency Saffron the brief of producing a contemporary cannabis brand in the hypothetical scenario where the drug had been legalised in the UK. Here’s what they came up with:

‘Cannabis is an unusual thing to brand. It’s both illegal and everywhere, taboo but almost universally accepted, artisanal and base. At the heart of the challenge was a similar tension: creating a very new brand for a very old product.

UK: Drugs Legalisation 'Could Save Lives' Families Urge Ahead Of Psychoactive Substances Bill Debate

Families of drugs abuse victims are calling on David Cameron to radically review drugs laws as the House of Lords moves to debate the controversial Psychoactive Substances Bill.

On Tuesday a group of bereaved families delivered a letter to Downing Street demanding reform of UK drug laws.

The Anyone's Child campaign is calling for legal regulation of drugs, rather than outright banning, with a vision that drugs would be controlled by medical professionals rather than criminals.

Cara Lavan lost her partner Jake Coe to drugs and she believes that a change in the law could have saved his life.
