Cannabis-based GW Pharma raising more Nasdaq cash

Cambridge UK life science company GW Pharmaceuticals is set to raise around $1 million new money with a sale of ordinary shares on the US technology market, Nasdaq.

The company, whose treatments are cannabis based, says the amount it wants to raise is undecided. But its stock on Nasdaq is currently edging downwards towards its lowest on the market so GW would be happy to raise anything north of $1million.

It plans to issue 1.25 million American Depositary Shares in an underwritten US public offering. From an opening price of123.22, GW’s shares fell 5.77 cents on last trading to 115.23 – dangerously close to the low of 114.22 and well distanced from the high of 123.22.

The Effects of CBD on the Human Body, as explained by a Doctor

One of the most celebrated elements found in cannabis is a chemical called CBD which is short for cannabidiol. It is a non-psychoactive compound that is a powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, and anti-seizure medication. Yet, its list of accolades doesn’t end there.

So far, the endocannabinoid system (meaning endogenous cannabinoid) is the largest receptor system known to exist in the human body. It’s a system that helps to maintain homeostasis, to keep things running in tip-top shape. That means that we already have our own versions of pot molecules in our nervous systems.

Medicinal cannabis group seeks $180m

A British company that makes medicines from cannabis is aiming to raise almost $180m on Nasdaq to push forward a new treatment for childhood epilepsy.

The share issue would bring the total raised by GW Pharmaceuticals in New York over the past two years to nearly $450m. During that time, its market capitalisation in London, where it has a dual listing, has grown from less than £100m to almost £1.5bn.

GW has special permission from the UK Home Office to grow cannabis at an undisclosed location in England for use in drugs that harness the therapeutic benefits of marijuana without producing the “high” associated with smoking the plant.

Why cannabis advocacy groups NEED to divide the community

It may not be obvious to many why the most ardent and pragmatic advocacy groups are so happy to shun the majority of the cannabis community, but it serves an important function within the community.

Leader of CLEAR UK, Peter Reynolds was recently published in the Independent openly shunning members of the cannabis community for attending the 4/20 rally in Hyde Park with a piece entitled If you really want to legalise cannabis, then why on earth would you go and get high in a park?

Cannabis causes schizophrenia? Are we getting the full picture?

Information is vital to our decisions, and the delivery of information is as important as the content itself. We have increasingly placed a filter over our drug policy conversation – a hyperbolic monocle, full of binary inconsistencies. The inevitable result is an unwitting confusion. Cannabis causes schizophrenia? This has become almost common knowledge. But, what if this is only half the story?

UK: Cannabis café opens in Guildford to promote 'benefits' of drug

A cannabis ‘café and hotel’ has been opened in the urban area of Guildford to try to promote the ‘benefits’ of the class B drug which many think should be legalised.

The café owner set up the business in a bid to educate people on the medicinal properties of cannabis and also try to get himself off benefits by providing a new income.

The café is located in the flat he is a tenant of and provides refreshments, full dinners, and a varying meal deal offer which includes a cannabis cigarette, coffee, and a meal, to people who wish to come and smoke with others.

A price list ranging from teas and coffees to an overnight stay encourages people to smoke in what the owner describes as a safe and educated environment.

A letter to Her Majesty the Queen Regarding Cannabis Extracts

On March 20th, 2015 the Supreme Court of Canada heard arguments for and against medical cannabis derivative products becoming legally available to authorized patients.  The courtroom was filled with supporters while many others watched in the overflow rooms and on the CPAC live stream.  The entire proceeding was recorded and is available to view online on the Cannabis Digest Youtube page. Floating on the screen during the webcast was “Her Majesty the Queen vs. Owen Edward Smith”. Despite this sport scoreboard like opposition displayed for the audience at home, Queen Elizabeth II had about as much influence on the unfolding of our case as the Unicorn on the coat of arms above the judges heads.
