Can You Fly On An Airplane With Legal Marijuana?

Unless you were living under a rock this week, then you are aware that the number of legal states in America doubled after the election. The states that legalized were of course California, Nevada, Massachusetts, and Maine. According to the most recent census numbers, those states have a combined population of 49,714,000 people, with California of course making up the bulk of the statistic (38.8 million people live in California).

Legal Marijuana Hasn't Caused Any Of The Problems Opponents Said It Would

When Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational marijuana in 2012, opponents of the measures warned that ending the longstanding prohibition on weed would wreak havoc on society. The fiscal benefits associated with taxed and regulated marijuana wouldn’t be worthwhile, they said, because more children would end up using the drug and high drivers would terrorize the roadways.

Marijuana Arrests Fall To 20-Year Low, But Someone Is Still Getting Busted About Every Minute

Police made fewer arrests for marijuana-related offenses last year than they have in any year since 1996, according to crime data the FBI released Monday.

Still, authorities in the U.S. made 643,000 arrests for marijuana-related charges in 2015 ― or about one every 49 seconds. Charges related to the drug accounted for 5.9 percent of all arrests, and about 43.2 percent of all drug arrests.

DC Medical Marijuana Patients Could Soon Get More Cannabis

District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser wants to double the amount of medical marijuana that qualified city residents can buy each month.

Bowser announced Wednesday that she will propose allowing patients to buy 4 ounces of pot a month, rather than 2 ounces. The regulatory change requires approval by the D.C. Council.

The Democratic mayor says the change would better meet the needs of patients.

The city has nearly 4,000 registered medical marijuana patients. City residents must be diagnosed with one of a small list of conditions — including cancer, glaucoma or severe muscle spasms — to be eligible.

Startups Get Creative With DC's Marijuana Laws

DC juice delivery service comes with a gift of cannabis.

When Washington, DC residents voted to legalize marijuana back in 2015, many stoners (while high, of course) probably imagined President Obama blowing O’s in the White House rose garden after a tough day at the office; however, due to the District’s lack of statehood, and the tempestuous relationship that exists between DC and Congress—even the President might have a hard time understanding the Chocolate City’s stance on the green.

Congress Considers Changing Federal Policy Toward Marijuana Research

Pot’s staunchest opposing forces giving in to medical marijuana.

A legion of Congressional lawmakers, some of which have advocated against the reform of marijuana laws in the not so distant past, have joined forces in an effort to eliminate some of the restrictive barriers that have jammed up the cannabis plant for the past several decades by introducing legislation that would make it easier for the scientific and medical communities to study its therapeutic benefits.
