Researchers discover two cannabis compounds 'more potent than THC'

Move over CBD and THC, new cannabinoids are on the way.

A study published by Nature.com has revealed the discovery of two previously unknown cannabinoids, now named THCP and CBDP. In tests on mice, researchers found that THCP demonstrated “an affinity for CB1 receptor more than thirty-fold higher compared to the one reported for THC,” making it much stronger than THC.

Alberta delays sales of cannabis vapes, angering producers and retailers

The province has indefinitely postponed the legal sales of cannabis vapes, a move that’s ignited anger among producers and retailers.

With the second phase of cannabis legalization involving the sale of edibles and other derivatives to take effect in Alberta, a major component of that, vaping cartridges, has been put on hold by the provincial government, which has cited health concerns.

Just as Health Canada announced it was launching a testing regime of vaping products that are already legally available in some provinces, the Alberta government said it, too, would review their safety.

Alberta latest province to halt cannabis vapes sales amid health concerns

Alberta is suspending sales of cannabis vaping devices amid lingering concerns about their health effects, a move that would leave nearly half of the country's consumer market unable to purchase the newly-legal pot product. 

Heather Holmen, a spokesperson for the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis, the provincial agency responsible for regulating cannabis, said officials are still considering whether to allow the sale of cannabis vape products in the province, but didn't specify when it would begin to offer the product to consumers.

The province says it received its first shipments of the products on Wednesday and has made them available to private and public retailers through its wholesale operation. The province’s liquor control branch is the only wholesale distributor of non-medical cannabis in B.C.

Cannabis edibles, extracts, topicals and vapors on their way: B.C.

British Columbia's government says the first batch of legal marijuana edibles, extracts and topical will soon be available for purchase, two months after they were legalized in Canada.

The province says it received its first shipments of the products Wednesday and has made them available to private and public retailers via its wholesale customer portal.

The Ministry of Attorney General says consumers can expect to see them on store shelves by the end of the month, based on shipping schedules.

The province's liquor control branch is the only wholesale distributor of non-medical cannabis in B.C.
