Hemp experts criticize THC state testing protocols

In 2018, Colorado farmers had to destroy hundreds of acres of hemp because the plants exceeded a limit for the psychoactive compound responsible for the “high” in marijuana.

Colorado is among the states that require the top two inches of the plant be tested for THC, said Eric Steenstra, president of the advocacy group Vote Hemp.

Industry experts said the testing protocol doesn’t make sense because, in part, it isn’t representative of the THC content dispersed throughout the entire plant from which finished products are sourced.

The THC Breath Analyzer will be a “low-cost portable breathalyzer device that would be ideally suited for workplace, parental and personal use testing.”

The machine probably won’t meet police standards, as a Cannabix release notes “the professional needs of law enforcement users (use at police stations and court acceptance) will likely differ from the needs of employers and civilian users.”

Edmonton-area cannabis company offers classes to catch supply up to demand

There’s a shortage of skilled workers for the growing marijuana sector, where demand for the product is outrunning supply, says an Edmonton-area cannabis company.

That’s why Freedom Cannabis, operating out of a 126,000-sq.-ft. facility just west of Edmonton in Acheson, is facilitating a training class, alongside NorQuest College, to help give students the knowledge required to work in all realms of the industry.

“Growing and operating in a highly regulated environment requires people that understand the ramifications of being in this environment,” said Freedom Cannabis co-founder Troy Dezwart. “The more trained and the more educated they are, the better the work environment is and the higher-quality products we can create.”

Social media and its impact on Marijuana Law Reform

When the histories of the cannabis law reform movement are written, the advent of the Internet will occupy a lot of space. If the Internet had never been created, it would be hard to imagine the success of the movement over the last 2 decades. There’s no doubt some progress would have been made; after all, activists were active long before the World Wide Web helped them spread information and organize. But the speed and volume of victories could not have been accomplished without this one very powerful tool.
