Canada Cannabis Sales Doubled In 2020, Hitting $2.6 Billion: Here’s What’s Next

Last year brought triple-digit growth to Canada’s legal cannabis market. According to the Brightfield Group’s latest “Canadian Cannabis Market” report, this was largely driven by:

  • Increased brick-and-mortar retail access – especially in Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec;
  • An expansion in e-commerce and click-and-collect offerings;
  • Pricing that was more competitive with the illicit market;
  • Retailers adapting to a pandemic context, helping prompt vast growth despite an unprecedented backdrop of lockdowns and store closures.

More and more cities and countries are leaning towards the decriminalization and legalization of cannabis , which opens up many business possibilities. Uber does not plan to be left behind and is already considering adding home delivery of marijuana to its portfolio of services.

Dara Khosrowshahi , CEO of Uber , said the company could deliver cannabis through its private transportation network. This as soon as the federal regulation in the United States is approved and depending on how the legislation is.

Why is temperature control important to the cannabis industry?

Why is temperature control important to the cannabis industry?

When it comes to extraction, the name of the game is purity.

For the ultimate in cannabis product, short-path distillation is what the extraction industry turns to for the best possible results.

Distillation, chromatography, and re-distilling the product for purification can remove a lot of inactive compounds that serve no therapeutic purpose.

It takes sophisticated, highly-calibrated components to allow companies to reach the level of purity that short-path distillation can obtain.

Toronto cannabis company on their secret ingredient to retail success: concierge service

Remember when you were first learning to drive? You spent hours listening to a teacher explain everything about road safety and how cars work, but it wasn’t until you actually got behind the wheel that you really began to understand how to be a safe driver. That kind of education, often called “experiential learning,” is how most people pick up new skills and information and incorporate them into their daily lives. Similarly, you never took a class on how to use your smartphone: you learned from watching other people, asking friends for their advice, and through trial and error

3 Best Marijuana Stocks to Buy in April

This month just might be the best time in a long time to buy cannabis stocks. Why? Much of the initial excitement about the increased prospects of significant U.S. cannabis reform has waned. With the Biden administration focused on other priorities, some investors could even be despairing that anything will be done.

However, changes that would benefit the cannabis industry are still likely on the way. Other factors are already at work that should also provide momentum. But not all pot stocks are in as good of a position to win as others. Here are my picks for the three best marijuana stocks to buy in April.

Five Things Every Cannabis Business Needs Before They Open

When it comes to small business opportunities these days, few phrases give people the old dollar-sign-eyes more than “legal cannabis”.

From states like Michigan where it’s been approved for both medicinal and adult use, to places like South Carolina where legalization has been a popular topic for ballots and voters, cannabis is slowly turning into one of America’s biggest businesses.

You don’t need us to tell you that – Investopedia reports that (as of Nov. 2020) over 340,000 American jobs were devoted to the handling of plants at various stages along the retail cycle, and the industry was estimated at over $13 billion as of 2019.

We Can Do A Better Job Reducing the Cannabis Industry's Carbon Footprint

The term “carbon footprint” has been used alongside phrases such as global warming, climate change, melting ice caps, rising sea levels and endangered species for some time now. What would be surprising to many people is to hear the term associated with a remedy as natural as the cannabis plant. However, with legalization rapidly spreading across the globe, the demand for cannabis products has only continued to grow. And while billions of dollars in cannabis sales add to the economy, growing cannabis can come with the heavy price of exponentially increasing our carbon footprint.

COVID-related lockdowns weigh on Aphria's Q3 sales ahead of Tilray merger

Aphria Inc. reported third-quarter revenue Monday that missed analyst expectations as pandemic-related lockdowns, particularly in Ontario, weighed on cannabis sales during the period.

The Leamington, Ont.-based cannabis producer said it generated $153.6 million in revenue in its three-month period ending Feb. 23, an increase of 6.4 per cent from the prior year. Revenue from the company's cannabis operations fell 7.8 per cent to $51.7 million, while sales in its SweetWater beverage division was $14.8 million in the first full quarter since the business was acquired in November.

With More Women Buying Cannabis, Product Demand Could Change

More women are buying cannabis, which could lead to shifts in product demand. Women still make up a minority of adult-use marijuana purchasers – 33.6 percent in February – but that’s increased almost a full percentage point from 2020. While that trend might not be a dramatic shift in the gender makeup of retail marijuana sales, it could have a lasting effect because men and women shop differently for cannabis products.

For example, female buyers are more likely to purchase products other than flower when compared to their male counterparts. Both men and women spend the most on flower, but women spend less on it, according to analysis of wallet share (the percentage of a customer’s spend on specific categories) from February 2021.
