The Human Face of The Opioid Epidemic And How Cannabis Can Help

Those were the words of 43-year old Timothy Dillon, as he lay bleeding on the ground after being shot by police, following a five-hour long standoff where he threatened to shoot the officers, goading them to kill him “Let’s get this over with.” Instead of getting it over with and killing him, as Dillon had hoped in an attempted ‘suicide by cop,’ deputies administered first aid and saved his life, allowing him to “still hold [his] wife, hug [his] da

Come at Me: In New England, One Door Opens After Another is Slammed Shut

Last week, this column was pretty pessimistic. Apologies, but when a state in my own beloved Northeast decides to put the kibosh on a law that would reduce the number of prisoners in their jails in and increase the amount of tax dollars in its coffers, it grates at the nerves. New Hampshire did it, and Vermont did too, but to the East, Maine has given New England a new hope for legalization.

Smoking, High-Potency Pot Outlawed in Ohio's Medical Marijuana Bill: What You Need to Know

Patients using marijuana could not smoke marijuana flowers nor use cannabis with high levels of THC under revisions expected to be made Wednesday to Ohio's proposed medical marijuana law.

State lawmakers wrestled with the idea someone would "smoke their medicine" and had initially wanted an appointed commission to decide whether Ohio would allow smoking. But revisions planned for House Bill 523 specify marijuana could not be smoked or available in products attractive to children, such as gummy bears. It would allow patients to use a vaporizer, which heats marijuana to the point it releases chemicals but not smoke.
