Tell Senator Grassley To Give The CARERS ACT A Hearing

The CARERS Act would do a number of things to help suffering patients that find relief from using medical marijuana. Cannabis Radio has a petition circulating calling on Senator Chuck Grassley to schedule a hearing for the bill. So far the biggest hurtle to the bill has been Senator Grassley’s lack of movement. If Senator Grassley continues to drag his feet, he will basically kill the bill. Below is more about the petition, which can be signed at this link here:

Commentary: Should Guyana relax its marijuana laws?

In 2010, Patricia Spottencrow, an Oklahoma mother of four, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for selling just $31 worth of marijuana. For many, the sentence was too harsh, especially since the convicted woman was a first time offender who had fallen on hard times.

Sixteen representatives of several Rastafarian organisations on Wednesday met with the Attorney General Basil Williams at his invitation in the AG’s Chambers and a key issue discussed was the decriminalisation of two ounces of marijuana for personal use.

In recent weeks there have been stepped up calls for the decriminalising of the possession of small amounts of the drug for personal and religious use amid a flood of such cases in the court leading to incarceration.

Higher Ground: You can’t put the smoke back in the bong

There is little doubt in my mind that marijuana — cannabis, weed, pot, ganja, skunk, bud, herb, sticky icky, mota (in Mexico), le shit (in France), whatever you want to call it — is on the road to legalization. There are a lot of reasons for that. One of them is the changes taking place around the world.

Canadians facing pot charges in limbo

While Rose Miranda waits for her April court date to face potential charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, the 65-year-old retired education assistant can't take cannabis for her arthritis.

Mounties have also banned her from visiting or contacting anyone at Phoenix Pain Management Society, the medical marijuana dispensary where she was volunteering when she was arrested in Nanaimo, B.C.

"I love Baby Trudeau, but he says, 'We're going to fix this.' When? Meanwhile, I have clients who don't have their medication," Miranda said.

"I take care of people who are housebound, people in wheelchairs and people who are poor. They need their medication and right now they can't access it."

Israel: Cannabis opponents take a hit as top ethicist calls for legalization

Israel’s preeminent expert on ethics and philosphy voiced support Tuesday for easing limits on the use of medical marijuana and — with appropriate regulation — legalizing the drug for recreational use.

Speaking to the Knesset Committee on Controlled Substances, Professor Asa Kasher said restrictions on the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes went against the principles of medical ethics, and argued doctors should be given the freedom to prescribe the pain relieving drug even if other options have not been explored.
