Police turned up to investigate Coventry burglary but found cannabis factory instead

When the police turned up to investigate a report of a burglary at a Coventry house, they arrived in time to see two young men walking off the drive.

Although it turned out they were not the burglars, but the victims, they were reluctant to let the officers go inside.

And Warwick Crown Court heard that the reason was that upstairs they had set up a cannabis factory, which had been the target of the burglary in July last year.

Mohammed Khan and Wajid Sarwar both pleaded guilty to producing cannabis at the house in Stanley Road, Coventry, and Sarwar also admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply it.

Marijuana grow, electrical theft discovered at Beaumont home

BEAUMONT, Calif. -

Police discovered more than 100 marijuana plants at an indoor grow operation at a Beaumont residence, which was partially powered by stolen electricity.

Members of the Beaumont Police Department's Multiple Enforcement Team served a search warrant Friday in the 1400 block of Moonlight Drive, where police said the second floor of the home was completely converted into a marijuana grow facility.

Police also found lights, ballasts, hydroponics and other grow equipment.

Southern California Edison confirmed that a bypass on the home's electrical supply allowed more than an estimated $18,000 in electricity to be  stolen to facilitate the operation.

“How can we be punished for helping?’ asked Dawn Parker, whose husband operates the store. “We don’t make a lot of money.”

Cops found the container at a Maspeth Ave. dock in East Williamsburg near the Newtown Creek on Wednesday after Homeland Security tipped them off that a cargo container full of drugs was coming to Brooklyn from Seattle.

On Thursday evening, cops watched as two men and a woman pulled up in a U-Haul truck and a Hyundai.

Marijuana dispensary crackdown needs to stop: activist

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canadian government is moving forward with legalizing marijuana, but the RCMP is still cracking down on BC dispensaries.

Owner of Cannabis Culture Jodie Emery says now that the pot prohibition is ending, the arrests should stop too.

“Not one more person should be busted for marijuana as we move forward with legalization,” she explains. “They are not only wasting tax dollars that should be used in other ways, they are also saying to Canadians that they don’t care about their opinions and that they are going to enforce outdated laws.”

Yountville opposes marijuana cultivation as state law nears

With the approach of new California laws that could pull marijuana regulation out of local hands, Yountville has taken a stance against growing cannabis within its boundaries.

An ordinance supported last week by the Town Council bars cultivation of the plant, enabling the Upvalley community to beat a state deadline to put a local growing ban in place. Without the law, Yountville faces the possible loss of authority over marijuana growing starting March 1, when new state regulations on cultivation take effect for cities and counties with no prohibitions of their own.

Police say one of their dogs caught a whiff of the plants in the Austrian capital's Floridsdorf district on Friday morning. Officers then saw a man taking a hose into the warehouse and searched the premises, finding 734 cannabis plants.

They said in a statement Saturday they also found 32 sacks stuffed with deep-frozen marijuana and a bag full of dried marijuana at the 27-year-old suspect's apartment.

Police say the man is denying wrongdoing. Spokesman Roman Hahslinger told the Austria Press Agency the suspect comes from outside Vienna and might not have known that a police facility was nearby.
