Forget High Grade Marijuana, Consumers Just Want Cheap Weed

The cannabis consumer has spoken with their wallets and what they want is affordable marijuana with high THC content.

In recent years, a string of marijuana companies has rushed to establish top-tier, premium cannabis products on dispensary shelves. The belief was that consumers would gravitate towards luxurious cannabis goods, much in the same way as craft beer and aged whiskey dominate a specific foothold within the spirits industry. This would be especially true for older crowds and newcomers, who would buy top-of-the-line weed to assuage any concern about this brave new world of marijuana.

One-third of Canadian cannabis users unsure of brands purchased: Report

This is set to be an exciting year for the Canadian cannabis industry, but there are still several hurdles the fledgling industry must overcome if it is to live up to pre-legalization hype.

According to data from Brightfield Group’s January 2020 Canadian Cannabis report, one-third of Canadian cannabis consumers were unsure which brands they were purchasing and 50% didn’t know what dosage they preferred in 2019.

The survey data illuminates two problems the government, licensed cannabis producers, sellers, and consumers have experienced since legalization.

“Regulations were so extensive that few brands or products were able to gain traction among customers,” the report states.

Study Shows What You Eat Changes the Effects of Cannabis

Cannabis and food go together better than many other things in life.

Most cannabis consumers and patients will be quick to point out that cannabis stimulates appetite and that consuming cannabis prior to eating often makes meals and snacks more enjoyable.

Less attention is paid to eating food prior to cannabis consumption, and what impact, if any, it can have on the cannabis consumption experience and the effects of cannabis on the consumer/patient.

A new study out of Canada explored the idea and what they found could have a major impact on consumer and patient consumption habits and strategies.

There’s also CBDP, another cannabinoid discovered by these same scientists which, as its name suggests, is very similar to CBD.

Smoking cannabis may not be healthier than tobacco, according to new research from McMaster

There may be a host of ways to consume cannabis, from edibles to vape pens. But for two thirds of Canadians, smoking is still the most popular. Joints, pipes and bongs are so firmly entrenched in the culture of cannabis that it’s unlikely we’ll see a significant decline, even as more forms of cannabis are legally introduced.

But what is it doing to people’s lungs?

There’s a widely held belief that a joint isn’t as harmful as a cigarette because it’s more “natural.” Many people think tobacco and cigarettes as being laced with chemicals and really, how could smoking a dried flower be as bad as that?
