The ever-increasing cannabinoid family has new members coming in every day, and there’s reason to be excited as new research comes out about CBC.

In the last couple of years, CBD (cannabidiol) – a cannabis cannabinoid, has risen to prominence as an effective treatment for many suffering from medical issues like insomnia, anxiety, pain, depression, seizures, high blood sugars, pathogenic diseases, ADHD etc., and a possible answer to many other issues that still require more research like: different forms of cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and even prion diseases. It seems like every day a new breakthrough is coming out about the use of CBD as a treatment.

A bunch of celebrities have been jumping on the medical and adult-use cannabis bandwagon. Where they haven’t; some have been pushed onto it – without permission.

The last thing a relatively new industry needs are snake-oil salesmen and shonky marketing tactics, particularly where that industry is focused on health and wellness.

Five years ago the shelves of most dispensaries housed sugary edibles, strong concentrates and a selection of flower with as much THC as a grower could manage. The industry and its products were geared towards the male consumer who dominated the market.

Fast forward to 2020 and markets like California are seeing a rise of women-centric cannabis products and services -- low dose mints, high end topical oils and lotions, CBD bath balms, mini-joints with low levels of THC that everyone can enjoy.

Some things do change. In a U-turn-like turnaround, Cannabis NB is making money and increasing sales faster than its provincial neighbours.

As the retailer contemplates the best private-sector operator to take over from the province, out of a pool of heavy-hitters that include Canopy Growth and Loblaws, the company’s numbers are on the rise.

Numbers from Statistics Canada show the Crown corporation hit $3.7 million in sales during November, a 4.8 per cent increase from the previous month and a 14.6 per cent increase from November 2018.

Ordering cannabis in Manitoba just got a whole lot easier.

Super Anytime, what the company calls Canada’s first “on-demand, multi-retailer, e-commerce platform,” officially came online Wednesday, providing wider access to the province’s cannabis offerings all in one place.

“We’ve been called something like Ritual or Uber Eats for weed, but we prefer an integrated marketing sales and performance channel for cannabis,” Ian Delves, president and co-founder of Super Anytime, told The GrowthOp. “It’s really all about increasing accessibility and giving consumers access to the cannabis with which they are familiar,” Delves said.

Finding edibles in Calgary isn't a casual, chill affair. The newly launched way to ingest legal cannabis is flying off shelves across the city.

Marijuana edibles became available in some stores across the city  more than a week ago. And for the first time since legalization, stores began to stock shelves with gummies, chocolates, cookies, mints and cannabis teas.

And, of course, it's sparked some curiosity.​

But getting your hands on edible product is easier said than done.
