Shoppers Drug Mart expands medical cannabis online sales to East Coast

Canadian pharmacy giant Shoppers Drug Mart has expanded its online medical cannabis platform to Canada's East Coast.

As of today, residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island can go online on the company's website to make their purchase, which will then be mailed to them.

Residents who don't currently have the proper medical documentation authorizing the use of medical cannabis can get it by setting up a consultation online.

"There's access to telemedicine where a person can have an individual consultation with a physician who can determine whether cannabis is right for them," said Mike Boivin, a pharmacist consultant from Ontario who is a member of the Shoppers Drug Mart Advisory Board on Medical Cannabis.

Is CBD An Effective Way To Treat Hangovers?

Among the many claims that surround CBD, its ability to treat hangovers is one of the most inviting. Here’s what experts say.

Hangovers are awful and really hard to treat. While there are all sorts of pills and drinks that claim to fix your body, not to mention an endless stream of home remedies, most of the time, what works best is sleep, water and time.

Aleafia Health makes $7.1 million selling Canada’s cheapest weed

n Monday pot-producer Aleafia Health, Inc. (TSX: ALEF) (OTC: ALEAF) announced it found a buyer for 28 per cent of the company’s inaugural outdoor harvest.

The company will sell 2,840 kilograms of dried flower from its Port Perry, Ontario growing site to an unnamed Canadian licensed producer for $2.50 per gram, earning Aleafia a tidy $7.1 million.

It’s a profitable deal for Aleafia, considering the Port Perry grow site produces the cheapest cannabis in Canada at $0.10 per gram — in this case, representing a profit margin of 96 per cent.

OCS deletes promotional tweets after a discussion with Health Canada

The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) engaged in some serious backpedaling regarding a planned Black Friday promotion after talks with Health Canada.

Last week, in a now-deleted tweet, the OCS bid Ontarians to “shop our collection of 7 grams starting at CA$7.50/g.”

The tweet was soon removed and promptly replaced with an online flyer that simply indicated that Black Friday was set to occur, with no language that could be deemed “promotional” and no details regarding product pricing or special deals in honour of the discount shopping day.

Customers may have to wait until January 2020 to get in-store edibles

Shoppers waiting to order cannabis Christmas gifts are getting a rude awakening as one of the biggest holidays nears.

Most legal shops won’t be able to order the new wave of marijuana products before Dec. 16, which means products likely won’t hit store shelves until 2020.

Brad Churchill, owner of Choklat, a candy-making company, told the Calgary Herald provinces will continue to suffer from Health Canada’s cautious approach.

“It’s disappointing in the standpoint of not having it in the stores for the holiday season,” he said.

How Does Canada Grant Cannabis Pardons After Legalisation?

With a slowly increasing number of jurisdictions legalising recreational use of Cannabis, a major concern is the process of granting pardons for Cannabis-related crimes prior to legalisation. Many of these jurisdictions, like Canada, have vowed to permit pardons to some of those individuals.

Canada’s Liberal government passed the legislation four months ago, in order to grant the expedited pardons. However, the protection does have some limits. Namely, only those with a single charge of simple Cannabis possession are eligible for pardons. Those with multiple charges are disqualified.

‘Poor Quality’ Cannabis At The Root Of Canada’s Woes

As the troubles stack-up for the main cannabis companies in Canada, an industry insider believes they’ll never be able to address one key issue – a lack of ‘good quality weed’.

James A. Smith, Chief Revenue Officer in Canada at emerging cannabis 4C Labs, says: “I do not know anyone who buys their cannabis on the legal market, it’s horrible quality.”

Recent figures show the ‘black’ and ‘grey’ markets continue to cater for the needs of the majority of Canada’s cannabis consumer users, with many leading companies blaming this on a lack of retail outlets. While acknowledging this has some merit, Mr Smith believes it is being used as a smokescreen for a litany of inadequacies.

Collingwood, Ont. welcomes first pot shop in December

After opting in to retail cannabis stores this year, Collingwood, Ont., will have its first legal pot shop by Christmas.

Louis Laskovski, who won the licence during the previous government lottery, teamed up with Sessions Cannabis to open the store.

“After an intensive government approval process, we strive to become a reliable and trusted source of information about cannabis along with being a leading retailer of the product,” Laskovski said in a press release.

“We know there is demand in Collingwood and the surrounding area. In our experience, customers are becoming more sophisticated and want an alternative to the black market.”
