Decriminalise all personal drug use, say Scottish LibDems

The party will use its Spring conference to advocate decriminalising drug use - as opposed to drug dealing - in a fundamental reform of how addiction is dealt with by the authorities.

Leader Willie Rennie will ask delegates to make treating drug use a health and social issue rather than a criminal one a key manifesto pledge for May’s Holyrood election.

Pakalolo’s Long History, Regulated Future In Hawaii

Despite Hawaii’s centuries-old appreciation for medicinal marijuana, dispensaries coming on line later this year are unlikely to make access and affordability better for patients.

Pakalolo is the Hawaiian word for cannabis and it literally means “numbing tobacco.” The chronicled use of cannabis in the Hawaiian Islands, appearing in the Hawaiian Language Newspaper Ka Nonanona, goes as far back as the year 1842 – though cannabis use probably goes back much further. Advertisements for medical cannabis continued in Hawaiian newspapers throughout the 19th century.

Belize: Laws in the works for marijuana decriminalization

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Feb. 18, 2016–Laws for the decriminalization of marijuana, for possession of up to 10 grams, are in the works. Amandala is reliably informed that after Cabinet gave its nod for the legal drafting, the Attorney General’s Ministry began working on amendments to the Criminal Code which would remove criminal penalties in the event that persons are found with marijuana within what would become the new limit.

Of note, though, is that Government is not moving to legalize marijuana use. Persons found with small quantities of marijuana would instead receive a fine through a sort of ticketing system. It is only in the event that the person fails to pay the fine that he or she would face incarceration.

Green Technology Solutions, Inc., together with its 3D printing partner, 6th Dimension Technologies, today announced it is seeking a suitable manufacturer for its 3D printed, child-proof cannabis containers.

American attitudes toward cannabis have changed a lot in forty years. In the early 1970s, Richard Nixon initiated the divisive “War on Drugs”, incarcerating substance users on an unprecedented scale. Today, the legal landscape has changed. Numerous objective studies have demonstrated the relative harmlessness of cannabis, as well as its positive medicinal properties. The psychoactive drug is now legal in the states of Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska, and is used both medicinally and recreationally.

Opinion: Legalisation of Dagga in South africa

Growing up in Soweto was very tough. There were just too many challenges and that has led to many young men resorting to drugs to forget everything happening around them. In 1997 a man asked my friend’s mother if he can erect his shack on their yard and because they needed the money they allowed him to. This man was selling Dagga for a living. As teenagers at that time we used to help him package it for distribution and he will buy us food and also give us the spillage for us to enjoy. As teenagers we used to enjoy that on the back of the toilet and because the neighbours used to complain about the odour or smell so we then smoked it in the veld. A few other friends joined us in smoking as it was given to us for free.

Coffee Pot: What Happens When You Mix Marijuana & Caffeine?

You can now add coffee to the growing list of foods and drinks that are available as products infused with marijuana.

Several companies have started selling cannabis-laced coffee, claiming to give users an added "buzz" to their cup of joe.

But what happens when you combine two psychoactive substances: marijuana and caffeine?

The effects of using these two substances in combination have not been heavily researched, said Dr. Scott Krakower, the assistant unit chief of psychiatry at Zucker Hillside Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York. But using two drugs in combination can always potentially be a problem, he said.
