Group promoting medicinal cannabis helps Aberdeen homeless with free scarves

A group promoting the medicinal benefits of cannabis has been hanging hats and scarves around Aberdeen city centre for homeless people to pick up.

Aberdeen Cannabis Social Club, an information-only Facebook group, ran the initiative after receiving a donation from one of its members.

Founding member Scott Kidd, from Aberdeen, said: “They gave us £50, we bought lots of scarves and started wrapping them round poles.

“It’s just one of our initiatives to get things going and get the club out there, let people know that we’re not just crazy people and we want to help.

“I’ve had loads of people on Facebook say they’ve spotted them around town. We’ve got to hope they’ve done some good.”

Egyptian kiosks: an interconnected drug network of police, users, and kiosk operators

Kiosks, in greater Cairo and other Egyptian governorates, have become a social focal point for young men and teenagers

There is a tacit awareness that kiosks serve as the hub around which Cairo’s drug trade turns; police officers and the kiosk workers under their direction pulled into orbit with the drug users.

A senior student at the Police Academy, who has asked to remain anonymous, explained to Daily News Egypt that those who work at kiosks are forced to work as informants and to share the profit generated from Egypt’s drug trade to be able to operate their business safely.

The call for making marijuana legal on different states is rapidly gaining pace as well as the profits gained from it. In a not so far future, legalizing it in every state is highly probable.

Connecticut Pushes Marijuana Legalization To Prop Up Disastrous Finances

Colorado, which was a trailblazer in marijuana reform legalizing recreational sales in 2012, recorded almost $1 billion in sales at the end of 2015, according to the state’s Department of Revenue.

Sales of legal marijuana soared by 42 percent compared with the previous year, said the Cannabis Business Alliance (CBA). CBA welcomed the boost in sales, saying $135 million in taxes raised from the $996,184,788 in sales would help contribute to building new schools in the state.

Connecticut joins Rhode Island, Vermont and Massachusetts that all have similar measures in the works to legalize the sale of recreational marijuana.

A strip club and a Smokin Gun: New Colorado pot shop stirring up intrigue

GLENDALE — Colorado’s newest pot shop has some wondering whether strippers and weed are too closely aligned on a busy highway just east of downtown Denver.

The Smokin Gun Apothecary opened on a site formerly occupied by the Denver area’s best known strip club, Shotgun Willie’s. The strip club hasn’t gone away — it’s moved just across the parking lot, testing ethical and potentially legal issues about the state’s growing legal recreational pot industry.

Beyond banning the sale of pot and alcohol in the same shop, Colorado has no regulation regarding marijuana and other adult businesses. Zoning rules require shops to be away from schools or anywhere children congregate.
