Colorado Just Recalled More Marijuana Because of Illegally Used Pesticides

Colorado cannabis regulators on Monday recalled medical and recreational marijuana grown by two cannabis businesses — RR Services and Advanced Medical Alternatives — over concerns the plants were grown with unapproved pesticides.

The recalls, called health advisories by the state, are the tenth and eleventh holds announced by the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division in less than one month.

The advisories note that 42 batches of RR Services’ marijuana and 10 batches of Advanced Medical Alternatives’ cannabis each tested positive for myclobutanil, a fungicide considered “slightly hazardous” by the World Health Organization and a “Bad Actor” by the Pesticide Action Network.

88 Million Dollars Worth Of Marijuana Sold In Colorado In January 2016

The sales figures are in from Colorado for January 2016, and while they are down from the previous month, the figures are still substantial. Last year the State of Colorado sold just shy of one billion dollars worth of cannabis. This year virtually all projections have Colorado eclipsing the one billion dollar mark, and the sales figures from January would put Colorado ahead of that pace. Per The Cannabist:

This Marijuana Study Could Evoke All the Wrong Emotions

Marijuana's safety profile could take a hit following the release of a new study from Colorado State University.

The year may still be young, but 2016 promises to be pivotal for marijuana one way or another.

The expansion of marijuana at the state level is looking like a win-win for residents and legislators. Consumers now have the freedom to purchase legal amounts of marijuana for recreational purposes in four states, and medical marijuana patients in 23 states have access to a new pathway of treatment that may prove safer, cheaper, and more effective than traditional pharmaceutical products.

Other Communities Mulling Cannabis Club Conundrum Faced by Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs isn't alone in banning cannabis clubs. Washington state did so last summer, and Portland, Ore., followed suit this month.

Englewood, Colo., was set to ban them but decided to extend its moratorium to June 15 while it explores how to regulate them instead.

But while the Colorado Springs City Council on Tuesday ordered cannabis clubs to phase out their businesses over the next eight years, Denver residents will vote Nov. 8 on an initiative to license and regulate the clubs.

Colorado law firm warns immigrants coming to Colorado for the state’s marijuana industry that they could be placing themselves at large financial and legal risk

One of the oldest and largest immigration law firms in the Rocky Mountain West says it’s seeing a growing number of immigrants coming to Colorado to take part in the state’s so-called “green rush” of legal marijuana businesses, only to have their hopes of financial success quickly dashed and their futures in the United States put at risk.

Attorneys at Denver-based Lau and Choi, P.C. say many immigrants are flocking to Colorado because of rumors that they can legally grow 99 marijuana plants there.

“We’re concerned that there’s a lot of rumors and misinformation among immigrants, particularly in the Chinese community, regarding the legality of marijuana in Colorado,” says Charles “Mac” McIntyre IV, a Mandarin-fluent attorney at Lau & Choi.

The Shake: 4/20 Cannabis Cup Bolts to California, Public Use in Toronto Ends, and Bernie Inhaled but Didn’t Enjoy

4/20 Cannabis Cup now in San Berdoo! OK. For reals. We think the 4/20 Cannabis Cup has actually found a home. After getting kicked out of the Denver Mart and then failing to secure the permits to hold the annual bacchanal in Pueblo, Colo., it looks like the good folks at High Times have moved the event to San Bernardino, Calif. Michael Roberts, reporting for Westword, follows the thread to the NOS Center in San Berdoo, which has hosted previous (medical) California Cannabis Cups. The U.S. Cannabis Cup, with its competitions and cannabis carnival booths, will take place there April 15–17.
