Adams County commissioners have rejected a permit for April’s High Times Cannabis Cup, the vast outdoor marijuana fair that coincides with the 4/20 pot celebration rally in downtown Denver.

The commissioners on Tuesday unanimously denied the Denver Merchandise Mart a permit for the April 16-20 event, taking testimony from several law enforcement officials who warned that there were too many people sampling too many cannabis products openly.

“From a safety perspective, I have serious concerns about this event and this venue,” Adams County Sheriff Michael McIntosh told the commission.

Legal weed sales numbers keep getting higher and higher.  According to market research group ArcView’s recent reports sales increased to $5.4 billion for 2015 compared to 2014’s $4.6 billion. ArcView’s reports also say U.S. adult-use legal sales grew to $998 million from $351 million in sales in 2014. ArcView projects legal weed sales to top over $20 billion by 2020, which may or may not find us with Kanye for president. (Everyone already knows how he feels about rolling one up.) Late last month Facebook banned gun sales on its site and on Instagram. It’s now going after marijuana dispensaries Facebook pages. 

On Feb 3, over 1200 women hailing from Puerto Rico to Anchorage descended upon Denver to accomplish what once seemed impossible: grow the first multibillion dollar industry led by women [and our non-binary colleagues]. Founded by Jane West and Jazmin Hupp in 2014, Women Grow is the largest network of cannabis entrepreneurs nationwide, in 44 cities and counting.

For once, a documentary that matches the spirit of its subject. Mitch Dickman's Rolling Papers charts Colorado's first calendar year of legalized marijuana through the lens of Ricardo Baca, the cannabis editor at the Denver Post; this appointment, it probably goes without saying, was the first of its kind from a major daily newspaper (ditto the pot critics who were also taken aboard).

A new legal cannabis shop in the US state of Colorado is receiving potshots for its proximity to a strip club and ties with the mayor. 

The Smokin' Gun Apothecary opened in the space previously occupied by the popular strip club Shotgun Willie’s, which is now across the parking lot.

Both businesses are owned by the wife of the mayor, who apparently thinks there's a crossover audience.

Deborah Dunafon wants to offer tokers discounted drinks at the strip club by selling mugs.

She also thinks the stoners will bring a chiller vibe to her not-so-gentlemanly club.

The first thing you notice when you walk into the Bud & Breakfast called "B and B 420" is that it's really, really clean. It's that feeling of relief you get when you realize that the place you're staying will be nice — better than nice, nicer than your house. The second thing you notice is the faint smell of fresh marijuana in the air, your one gram sample waiting for you in a tupperware on the coffee table tray, beside some rolling papers and a pipe.

SEATTLE (AP) — While Denver has recalled 19 pot products in as many weeks over pesticide issues, no such recalls have affected Washington state in the 18 months that pot sales have been legal.

The Seattle Times reports that no products were recalled after Washington officials fined two marijuana growers and suspended the licenses of two others for using unapproved pesticides.

Experts say it’s difficult to determine whether consumers should be worried about that.

Although there’s abundant research on pesticides on food, there’s little information about the effects of heating and inhaling such chemicals. The federal prohibition on marijuana has prevented relevant research.

In an unprecedented move doctors in Colorado are treating a 2-month old baby with cannabis oil at Children's Hospital Colorado.

The Nunez family of Albuquerque, New Mexico travelled to Denver seeking treatment for their daughter, Amylea who was born in December and started suffering from seizures immediately after birth. She was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy.

Sprawling 70-acre campus is listed for $85M

The campus was put up for sale in June for an asking price of $85 million, following the listing of Amgen’s 300,000-square-foot Boulder facility. That property was purchased for $14.6 million by AstraZeneca in September.

In most corporate settings, it's standard for employees to file into meetings with a cup of coffee in hand before sitting down to strategize on how best to move the business forward. But at least one Denver-based company has taken a different approach by allowing its staff to use another stimulant of sorts to get the creative juices flowing.

"When we have a company brainstorm session, we usually go to the rooftop or Red Rocks Park, and if people want to consume cannabis, they can smoke," said Isaac Dietrich, the co-founder of MassRoots, a tech startup social platform for cannabis users, about their Friday-afternoon meetings.
