NBA to continue policy of not testing players for marijuana

We all see which way this issue is trending, right?

While marijuana is still on its banned substance list, the NBA and players union agree to terms that would not text players in the Orlando restart bubble for pot. That is going to carry over to this season, reports Ben Dowsett.

Marijuana legalization is becoming more common nationwide. Recreational use is fully legal in 15 states plus the District of Columbia, and many other states have various levels of decriminalization or medical use allowances. With younger generations leaning much more heavily toward legalization, this trend is likely to continue across the nation.

Last year we looked at a decade’s worth of cannabis-centric patent data to identify and analyze U.S. patent trends in the cannabis industry. Given the increasing number of states legalizing cannabis in some form, coupled with the passage of the Farm Bill in late 2018, it was unsurprising we discovered a record number of cannabis-centric patents issued and patent applications published in 2019.

3 Pot Stocks to Avoid Like the Plague in November

Though investors' eyes are squarely on tech stocks, it's marijuana that could be one of the fastest-growing industries in North America over the next decade.

The latest edition of Marijuana Business Factbook from Marijuana Business Daily forecasts that legal weed sales in the U.S. could potentially triple to as much as $37 billion by 2024. With more U.S. states giving the green light to recreational and medical cannabis every year, and the Canadian industry working out its kinks, the sky's the limit for North American pot stocks -- well, most of them at least.

Even the fastest-growing industries have laggards that should be avoided at all costs by investors. In November, there are three pot stocks that cannabis stock investors would be wise to steer clear of.

U.S. border officials seize over 1,000 lbs of pot

A Canadian truck driver faces charges in Detroit after border officials at the Fort Street Cargo Facility seized over 1,000 lbs of marijuana on Sunday.

The driver presented a manifest for steel wire destined for a distribution centre in Chicago, but Customs and Border Protection officers got suspicious and sent the truck to secondary inspection.

That’s when they found 1,031 lbs of marijuana hidden in five wooden crates.

“The Port of Detroit is proud to have prevented the exploitation of our borders and the introduction of illicit drugs into our communities,” said Port Director, Devin Chamberlain. “I am equally proud of our CBP Officers and Agriculture Specialists who remain vigilant in their efforts to protect the American people every day.”
