This Is Why We Need Verified Product Reviews For Cannabis

I was reviewing cannabis brand data recently— a chart that compares price against quantity sold. In a traditional industry, it would resemble a downward-sloping demand curve.

But cannabis is not a traditional industry.

Instead of finding a simple graph, I found a hodge-podge of plot points, almost randomized, with little rhyme or reason: young brands, old brands, successful brands, struggling brands—all thrown into the messy mix.

Federal Judge Presses U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Transparency in Cannabis Policy

A federal judge is setting new deadlines for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to respond to an ongoing lawsuit seeking specific policy language on the agency’s approach to cannabis at the U.S-Canada border. For the past few years, Canadian cannabis industry employees and investors have been turned away at the border—and, in some cases, barred from the U.S. outright.

Nearly Five Tons of Pot Seized At Canadian Border

Customs officials seized nearly five tons of cannabis last week from a truck that was attempting to cross into the U.S. at the Peace Bridge Port of Entry on New York’s border with Canada, federal law enforcement officers announced on Monday. The seizure is the third large pot bust this month at the border crossing that has seen an uptick in smuggling via commercial vehicles since travel restrictions called in response to the COVID-19 pandemic were put in place this spring.

Canadian charged after 15 'large trash bags' of cannabis seized at U.S. border

A 36-year-old Cambridge man is charged with possession and transportation of illegal drugs, after border officers seized about 190 kilograms of cannabis at the Ambassador Bridge Friday.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) media release issued on Monday, the Cambridge man was driving a municipal waste hauler and was referred for inspection around 4 a.m. on Friday.

During the inspection — which included an x-ray and physical examination — CBP officers discovered several "odd shapes" in the back of the vehicle, ultimately finding 15 "large trash bags" of cannabis.

Are Amazon, Uber, etc. the future for delivering post-pandemic cannabis?

It’s hard to say where we are in the COVID-19 pandemic right now, as infections and deaths continue to rise. But there have been movements in the cannabis industry that are changing the way the industry operates amid the pandemic that may stay post-pandemic.

Being allowed to operate as an “essential” business in the U.S. — which had a few bumps in the road between including both medical with recreational as essential businesses in states such as Colorado (that state quickly changed and added recreational) and Massachusetts — was one positive result that gave the industry some needed respect.

Sales have been strong, and delivery options were expanded as well.

Study: Women Have More Intense Marijuana Cravings Than Men

Though men tend to smoke greater amounts and more frequently than women, women tend be more sensitive to marijuana consumption.

We know women and men react differently to cannabis. The endocannabinoid system — the set of receptors that bond with consumed marijuana — interacts directly and indirectly with estrogen in a women’s body. A 2009 study, published in the European Journal of Pharmacology, found the amount of CB1 receptors in a woman’s body fluctuates depending on estrogen levels, meaning women experience more intense highs when their estrogen levels peak.
