Stiff competition could see some cannabis retail stores in Ontario having to close their doors: OCS

The head of the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) says the growth of weed retail in the province has been impressive, but people should be prepared for some “market right-sizing” as a result of an increasingly competitive environment.

It is anticipated that Ontario cannabis retail will continue to grow, possibly reaching 1,000 stores by this September, David Lobo, interim president and CEO of the OCS, writes in the agency’s newly released annual report, covering the Apr. 1, 2020 to Mar. 31, 2021 period.

Richmond Hill: deliver cannabis Guidelines

holding buds

Most weed users in Richmond Hill use weed delivery services since weed delivery in the city is as simple as ordering other consumer goods for home delivery. However, weed delivery has its regulations. Health Canada has set up rules to ensure the safe delivery of weed, and it’s essential to educate yourself on the guidelines to ensure you get a smooth delivery. We’ve compiled some guidelines on weed delivery in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

  1. Packaging Requirements

At Black Rabbit, we will pack your order with odor-proof, tamper-proof, and leak-proof inner and outer packing. Weed delivery guidelines require the outer packaging to be anonymous without markings indicating what is in the package. The outer packaging must be a cardboard box.

This week, Canadian cannabis super brand Suprette opened a store in the Glebe section of Ottowa, and honestly we've never seen anything like it.

The dispensary is a technicolor, Willie Wonka-like stroll into a cannabis utopia. Part boardwalk carnival, part retro diner, and part cannabis store, the store is a joint venture between co-founders Mimi Lam and Drummond Munro.

The creative duo has opened three cannabis stores in the past two years and won a Clio Award for their brand design. But the Glebe store takes their imagination to a whole new level. It even has a claw machine!

Tiny residents express concerns about cannabis grow ops

marijuana plant

Tiny Township residents voiced their concerns about cannabis within the municipality at a recent virtual town hall meeting - their first opportunity since an illegal grow op in the township was shut down by OPP months ago.

Comments were based around the illegal grow operation on Concession Road 6 East, where OPP seized over 9,000 cannabis plants during a drug bust on April 20.

"How can citizens and politicians of Tiny Township join together to stop legal grow-ops from sprouting up in our area?” asked Joanne Ritchie.

She continued by laying out the timeline of events for the “size of a Wal-Mart” operation, remarking upon its 2020 construction permit allowance, as well as the installation of enough hydro “to supply seven large homes.”
