Canadian Vaping Association: Canada's regressive vaping policy lacks common sense

man vaping

BEAMSVILLE, Ontario, Aug. 19, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Canadian harm reduction scene has been disrupted and has evolved over many decades. The progressive stance that has been taken by the nation is to support those in need by removing shame and stigma through initiatives such as legalizing safe injection sites and cannabis. When looking at the vaping industry, there is a counter-intuitive approach in play, that not only demeans the consumers that utilize vape products, but blatantly disregards their health and the continued use of the product. While countries around the world embrace vaping as a harm reduction tool, Canada lags with a prohibitionist mentality that will see the return to smoking for thousands of Canadians.

Adam Kowal, 45, has been placed under house arrest after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution, Niagara Falls Review reports. Kowal will serve a nine-month conditional sentence, the first six months of which he will spend under house arrest.

York Regional Police say five people have been charged after officers seized $37 million in illegal cannabis earlier this month.

Police said an investigation began in February after officers received information about a business in Richmond Hill “that was believed to be involved in the distribution of illicit drugs.”

It was determined that the suspects had medical cannabis licences at two locations, but the operations were “entirely illegal” and drugs were being sold “in the criminal market with funds going to organized crime,” police said.
