Cannabis user banned from the roads

A “HABITUAL” drug user has been banned from the roads after being caught driving with more than five times the legal amount of cannabis in his system.

Dean Holcroft of Petticoat Lane, Ince, pleaded guilty to two charges, including possession of the class B drug, at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that on August 5, police stopped Holcroft on Manchester Road after they saw his car had blue side lights.

But upon inspecting the vehicle, the officers noticed a strong smell of cannabis.

And after testing the defendant at the roadside, it was found he had 11 micrograms of the drug in his system, the legal limit is two.

Medical cannabis campaigners push for UK progress

Earlier this week, in a crowded meeting room in central London, the United Patients Alliance (UPA) convened a discussion about medical cannabis. The UPA is a group of volunteers from around the United Kingdom, all of who suffer from debilitating ailments that could be alleviated with cannabis use. The discussion involved individuals emotively describing the harrowing experiences that they had endured with their illnesses, their anger at being prevented from legally accessing their medicine, and their hope for policy reform.

Is marijuana a single species? Scientists go deeper

Is all marijuana from a singles species, cannabis sativa? Or are there three distinct species: cannabis sativa, cannabis indica, and cannabis ruderalis?

Weed connoisseurs have long grappled with the issue as, intent on their pursuit of a more perfect buzz, they have now built up a couple of generations’ worth of experience with plant breeding, hybridization and cross-pollination. That was pretty much all in the pursuit of getting high, but in the past couple of decades, interest has also turned to cannabinoids other than THC, such as cannabidiol (CBD), with all its apparent medicinal properties, not to mention increased interest in industrial hemp.

UK: The Weak And Ineffectual Response Of Most MPs To The Cannabis Debate

CLEAR has been mobilising its members as never before to lobby their MPs in advance of the cannabis debate on 12th October.

There are honourable exceptions but most responses have been unhelpful, dismissive and have completely failed to deal with the arguments put forward.  Most MPs are indoctrinated with the false reporting churned out by the press, scared stiff of the subject and not prepared to look any deeper.

It is a terrible indictment of these people, each of whom costs us about £250,000 per year in salary and expenses. Most simply do not do their job properly, certainly not in the interests of or representing their constituents, mainly they just pursue their own political ambitions and interests. They cannot be bothered to deal with the cannabis issue.
