David Cameron feud with Lord Ashcroft: PM 'indulged in drug taking and debauchery', billionaire donor alleges in new book

Lord Ashcroft fell out with the Prime Minister after he was passed over for a leading role in the Coalition Government

David Cameron has been accused of being a member of another debauched Oxford society apart from the Bullingdon Club, allowing cocaine in his London home and misleading the public over the non-dom status of former Conservative party treasurer Lord Ashcroft in a new biography co-written by the peer.

Lord Ashcroft, who was once close to Mr Cameron, fell out with the Prime Minister after he was passed over for a leading role in the Coalition Government.

The book, Call Me Dave, which was written with journalist Isabel Oakeshott and is to be published next month, makes a number of damaging claims, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.

Can Marijuana Treat Schizophrenia?

It's long been held that marijuana use in its traditional form can lead to positive patient experiences, but confirming those personal testimonials in large, placebo-controlled studies has been tough to do.

The difficulty in proving that marijuana can successfully treat disease was hammered home last week when GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH) reported results from a schizophrenia trial that raises as many questions as it answers.

PUBLISHED: September 21, 2015 9:00 amLAST UPDATED: September 21, 2015 11:16 am

A man from Stafford who was caught growing cannabis in two rooms at his house has been spared an immediate jail term.

Police checked the home of Brett Adams after getting reports of a strong smell of cannabis in the area, Stafford Crown Court heard.

As soon as he opened the door and was asked about any drugs, Adams took the officers upstairs and showed them his growing rooms.

Mr Paul Farrow, prosecuting, said there were 12 plants in each room under a full scale hydroponic cultivation system, each of the plants with its own light.

UK: CLEAR To Become A Company Limited By Guarantee Following Members’ Referendum

Over the course of the first two weeks in September, CLEAR members have been voting online on CLEAR’s future legal status.

CLEAR was a single-issue political party until 2014, when the Executive Committee decided not to renew its registration with the Electoral Commission. It was felt that the idea of a single-issue party standing for Parliament was out of date and ineffective.

Solicitor questions decision to prosecute cannabis user

A SOLICITOR has questioned the decision to prosecute a cannabis user who takes the drug to relieve the pain of a chronic joint condition.

It came after police found the drug in the possession of 24-year-old Gareth Evans while carrying out a search of a property on Sunflower Road, Barnstaple.

North Devon Magistrates' Court heard how officers had searched the property on September 3 after speaking to its owner – who had been cautioned for possessing cannabis earlier that day.

Lyndsey Baker, for the prosecution, said on entering the flat officers discovered a number of people, including Evans, who were all searched. A small bag of cannabis containing 0.67g of cannabis, worth £6.70, was found on Evans.

GW Prescription drugs' Schizophrenic Marijuana Drug Knowledge

GW Prescription drugs ended up 7.6% yesterday after saying in a press launch headline that the corporate had "Constructive Proof of Idea Knowledge in Schizophrenia" for its cannabidiol, or CBD, drug.

Sounds nice, proper? With proof of idea in hand, the corporate simply wants to verify the part 2 outcomes and every thing is grand. Hooray for science. And medical marijuana derivatives. And sufferers. And buyers.

There’s only one drawback: proof of idea implies that you simply had a speculation, examined it, and it turned out to work, albeit on a scale smaller than is important to get the drug permitted.

Why I’m sick of slippery-slope arguments

Real, life-changing medical advances are being blocked for fear of ‘designer babies’; humane laws are stymied because of things they do not propose

Well, of course the Assisted Dying Bill failed. It mattered not a jot that an overwhelming majority of public opinion urged its success; it was always going to fail and the only surprising thing is that anybody is surprised. I’ll bet my teeth on a few more certainties, too. Last week the required 200,000 people put down their spliffs long enough to sign a petition in favour of decriminalising cannabis and thus, in October, the matter will be debated by MPs. Proponents, however, really should not bother — they will lose, regardless.

Drug dealer claimed he took cannabis to stop him dying in his sleep

A cannabis dealer has been jailed for 16 months after being caught with £6,000 worth of the drug which he claimed he took to stop him dying in his sleep.

Gordon McIntosh turned to the class B substance after a life-changing car crash which left him in a medically induced coma for months.

The lasting effects of the accident included the potentially fatal disorder sleep apnoea and the Forfar 50-year-old believed the drug helped reduce the lethal risk of the condition, which puts sufferers at risk through irregular sleep-time breathing.

But when police raided his home in January this year they discovered a major haul of herbal cannabis and cannabis resin, along with over £1,000 in cash.

Jail for Portsmouth man found with suitcase full of cannabis at Edinburgh Airport

A brazen drug smuggler has been jailed after he was caught trying to fly into
the UK with nothing but cannabis worth £110,000 in his suitcase.

Henry Alden, who is from Portsmouth, was stopped by Border Force officers as he stepped off a flight from Barcelona into Edinburgh Airport.

They searched the 20-year-old’s checked-in luggage and found nothing but 11 bags of herbal cannabis – weighing 12 kilos.

The only other belongings he had in his possession was a small plastic bag for hand luggage, containing clothes and a phone charger.

Alden, who had made several trips abroad in previous months, has now been jailed for three years and eight months.

UK: Guidance On How To Lobby Your MP For The Cannabis Debate.

In the UK the only democratic power you have is through your MP.

The arcane nature of our Parliament and the unaccountability of MPs makes that sad and depressing but it is reality.

The only alternative routes to power are to spend millions on advertising and PR or to chance on gaining the fickle and unreliable support of the popular media.

So, it is to your MP you must turn if you want to exercise influence in the cannabis debate.  However poorly informed, bigoted or slave to the media your MP is, your role is to do what you can to inform and persuade. It is your responsibility to make your MP do their job and represent your views.
