As More States Legalize Marijuana, NFLPA to Study Potential as a Pain-Management Tool

In the aftermath of a new set of states legalizing marijuana use in the national elections, the NFL Players Association said Wednesday it is actively studying the possibility of allowing players to use marijuana as a pain-management tool.

The union is forming an NFL players pain management committee that will study players’ use of marijuana as a pain-management mechanism, among other things, though the union has not yet determined if an adjustment to the sport’s ban on marijuana use is warranted.

Canadian Marijuana Stocks Soar Following California Legalization

Already setting new record highs for months, shares of Canadian marijuana stocks have reached lofty new territories after California voted to legalize marijuana.

On Tuesday, while many were mulling the shocking surge to the White House by Donald Trump, the state of California passed Proposition 64, which will allow residents 21 years and older to buy and possess up to one ounce of cannabis for recreational purposes and to grow up to six marijuana plants for personal use. The new measure will create an environment for state-licensed businesses to set up retail marijuana sales. With a proposed 15 per cent sales tax, the state is expected to take in an added $1 billion in tax revenue from legalization.

Cannabis Could Be Added to the Mix by Alcohol Giant as Laws Ease

Constellation Brands, the alcohol giant that sells Corona beer and Svedka vodka, is considering a new approach to livening up its beverages: marijuana.

"We're looking at it," Constellation Chief Executive Officer Rob Sands said in an interview. "There are going to be alcoholic beverages that will also contain cannabis."

The legalization of marijuana across much of the U.S. -- spurred by election-night victories on Tuesday -- is creating a huge new market for legal weed. Voters approved marijuana for recreational use in California, Maine, Massachusetts and Nevada. That brings the tally of states with legal pot to eight, plus Washington, D.C., meaning one in five American adults now lives in an area where it will be legal to get high.

The Opportunities and Pitfalls for the Legalized Marijuana Industry

More than 20% of Americans waking up the morning after Election Day did so in a state that has legalized recreational cannabis.

At least six states voted to legalize marijuana in some form, with California, Massachusetts, and Nevada voting to legalize adult-use, or recreational cannabis, while Arkansas, Florida, and North Dakota legalized medical pot. (Maine’s vote on recreational cannabis was still too close to call as of Thursday morning.) Now the US has 29 states with legal medical marijuana, and at least seven states have legal recreational pot markets.

The legal marijuana industry could generate roughly $22 billion in annual sales across the US within four years.

Canada Could Thrive from Marijuana Legalization in US States

Brendan Kennedy, the CEO of Privateer Holdings, says he expects Canadian producers will enter into partnerships and joint ventures with their neighbours.

Canada’s marijuana industry could benefit after at least six states representing twice the population of Canada voted in favour of legalizing the drug, either recreationally or medically.

Voters in California, Massachusetts and Nevada approved on Tuesday the use of recreational cannabis, joining four other states and Washington, D.C., that have similar laws in place.

Florida, North Dakota and Arkansas approved medical marijuana, which would bring the total number of states with such a system to more than two dozen.

Bang Holdings Corp Could Be About To Change The Face Of Sales, Starting With Cannabis

Here’s an interesting one. Bang Holdings Corp (OTCMKTS:BXNG) is a Florida based electronic cigarette company (according to its news media outlet bios) that develops, distributes and retails e-cigarettes and vaporizers. Forget that, for now, however.

What the company really does, and what its focus revenue driver going forward will be, is cannabis related advertising and marketing services. Through its Bang Digital Media brand, the company is aiming to capitalize on the marketing requirements of the burgeoning recreational cannabis space.
