Brookline medical marijuana dispensary, operated by NETA, set to open in mid-January

A medical marijuana dispensary, operated by the same company that has one in Northampton, is set to open in mid-January in Brookline.

The town’s selectmen earlier this week handed a license to operate to a medical marijuana dispensary to the New England Treatment Access, Inc.

“There remain a few additional approvals to be issued before we begin serving patients, but this was the biggest hurdle and we are moving forward full steam ahead,” the company said in an email, adding that they expect to open halfway through January.

“For the first few weeks, we will be operating on an appointment-only basis to help ensure a smooth opening,” the company added.

DC's Hottest Christmas Gift This Year is Weed

The holiday greenery in the nation's capital this year isn't mistletoe; it's marijuana. This Christmas is the first since the DC marijuana legalization, Initiative 71, went into effect earlier this year, and that means DC residents can legally give skunky-smelling Christmas presents to each other.

“It's a lovely holiday season because you can give cannabis to your friends in Washington DC,” said initiative organizer, political activist, and all-around DC gadfly Adam Eidinger. “Giving cannabis has become like the latest, ‘Hey, I baked a pie.
