Pennsylvania Should Legalize Marijuana: Philly Mayor

The mayor of Philadelphia says Pennsylvania should legalize marijuana so police don't have to expend resources on busts like the one in his city over the weekend, according to The Associated Press.

Mayor Jim Kenney, a Democrat, said Saturday's raid at a warehouse hosting a pot-smoking party might have been "overkill." Police arrested 22 people and seized more than 50 pounds of marijuana. About 175 people were allowed to leave without charges, The Associated Press reported.

Pot in the Portfolio? Some Tech VCs Say Bring It On

Silicon Valley investors are known for pouring money into risky bets like flying cars and asteroid mining. Now, a handful are diving into one of the few industries that makes most of their peers squeamish — pot.

As the marijuana industry soars, with New Frontier Data predicting legal pot sales will balloon to more than $24 billion by 2025, a handful of venture capitalists are climbing on board — albeit cautiously. Those putting money into the industry say it’s a rare chance to stake an early claim in a lucrative market with little competition from other investors. But they’re keeping one eye on President Donald Trump’s administration, watching for signs of a federal crackdown that could derail the burgeoning industry.

With the Liberal government recently promising to legalize marijuana by Canada Day 2018, the era of marijuana Prohibition is over, Olympic gold medallist Ross Rebagliati told the O’Cannabiz Conference and Expo in Toronto on Saturday.

Frustrations Mount for Some Doctors, Lawmakers as Medical Marijuana Rollout Continues in Florida

As one of the doctors in Florida that can recommend medical marijuana, Dr. Jonathan Adelberg urges caution to his patients. “I want people to operate - whether it's the speed limit or medicinal marijuana - inside the law.”

However, Dr. Adelberg says legalization hasn't been a smooth trip.

“The law is so fluid regarding medicinal marijuana, it's hard to navigate those waters,” he says.

And the doctor fears that turbulence may continue

Separate medical marijuana bills are currently moving through the Florida House and Senate after voters approved Amendment 2 in November

Lawmakers are far apart on agreeing what the law will allow, however.

Eating Chilli and Smoking Cannabis 'Could Help Cure Diabetes and Colitis – by Calming the Gut'

Chilli and cannabis both produce a substance that reacted with the immune system of mice to reduce inflammation in the gut.

WHAT do chilli spice and cannabis have in common?

On the face of it, very little. But, scientists hope both could help develop new treatments for type 1 diabetes and the gut disease colitis.

When eaten, both interact with the same receptor in our stomachs, new findings suggest.

And the result is they help calm the gut, scientists at the University of Connecticut found.

Mice fed both chilli peppers and the class B drug showed less inflammation in their guts. And, the researchers even found they were able to reverse type 1 diabetes in some mice, by feeding them the fiery pepper.
