Cannabis N.B. to let local producers set up retail shops

open sign

There could soon be more shops selling New Brunswick-grown cannabis products.

Cannabis N.B. has announced a new farm-gate program, in which licensed cannabis producers will be invited to apply for permission to sell their products onsite, where they are grown, the Crown corporation said in a news release.

The program is meant to give local producers a higher profile, as well to "educate customers about their products" and create tourism opportunities, CEO Lori Stickles said.

Rod Wilson of the New Brunswick Craft Cannabis Association said he expects it will be similar to the way wineries can give tours and sell their wine onsite.

Hexo eyes California cannabis market for upcoming investment

Hexo Corp. plans to enter the U.S. cannabis market through an investment in a California-based company that leverages the Canadian company's manufacturing prowess, the company's chief executive said Friday.

The company created a special purpose vehicle to invest in the U.S. market while remaining onside with regulatory requirements from the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange that forbid Canadian cannabis companies from operating in the U.S., which still deems marijuana to be federally illegal, Hexo CEO Sebastien St-Louis said in an interview.

But that is no guarantee for TLRY stock

While Canada becoming the first G7 nation to legalize recreational marijuana represented a boon for cannabis firms like Tilray (NASDAQ:TLRY), the long-term goal has always been breaking into the U.S. Let’s face facts. With a population of under 38 million, Canada just doesn’t have the economic clout that stakeholders of TLRY stock are looking for.

How did legal pot become such a tough business?

Three years ago, cannabis stocks were the hottest things on the market. Weed was about to become legal in Canada and it seemed everyone was going to get rich in the process. Today, millions of grams sit untouched, going stale on shelves.

Three years ago, cannabis stocks were the hottest things on the market. Weed was about to become legal in Canada and it seemed everyone was going to get rich in the process. Today, millions of grams sit untouched, going stale on shelves. Some of the industry's biggest names have gone through round after round of layoffs. And even now, almost half of the pot sold in Canada is on the black market. How did Canada's legal pot industry blow its opportunity?

Forget Aurora Cannabis and Buy This Pot Stock Instead!

Canadians looking for exponential gains can consider investing in the cannabis sector. Canada legalized marijuana for recreational use almost three years back, and now it’s quite possible for pot to be legalized at the federal level in the United States as well. However, while Canadian cannabis producers such as Aurora Cannabis (TSX:ACB)(NYSE:ACB) are struggling with lower-than-expected demand, negative profit margins, and a slew of other structural issues, their counterparts south of the border continue to grow at an enviable pace.

The Canadian cannabis market is forecast to grow from US$2.6 billion in 2020 to US$6.4 billion in 2026. Comparatively, the legal marijuana market in the U.S. is forecast to surpass US$40 billion in sales by the end of 2025.

‘Every harvest will be different’: master grower

Man with farm

This has been a summer to remember for the folks out at Arctic Pharm.

The cannabis facility is embarking on its first harvest, which is turning out remarkably well after a near-perfect growing season.

The farm is located near the Takhini Hot Springs and Yukon Wildlife Preserve.

Formerly Rivendell Farm, which specialized in organic farming, the staff at ArcticPharm say they’re following a different path, but in the same footsteps.

ArcticPharm is in the early stages of discovering what cannabis strains thrive in these conditions and which can provide the products the public wants.
