RCMP in Nunavut have seized 25.7 pounds (11.6 kilograms) of cannabis, $15,600 and an ATV after executing a search warrant in Rankin Inlet.

The hamlet is home to about 3,000 people.

In a press release, the RCMP noted that two individuals have been arrested and charged in relation to the search.

Larissa Misheralak has been charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling; unlawfully import cannabis into Nunavut, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

Dustin MacLean faces the same charges as well as failing to comply with an undertaking.

What Is Curing Cannabis?

A Manitoba First Nation is speaking out against the province for taking legal action against them over the operation of a cannabis store on their own land.

The Manitoba government wants the store Indigenous Bloom to close for operating without a Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority licence, Long Plain First Nation is part owner of the store, which is located in Portage la Prairie, Man.

Chief Dennis Meeches of Long Plain First Nation said he’s not surprised by the province’s actions, adding that the store is fully compliant under Health Canada’s regulations.

A 62-year-old Canadian man now faces drug charges after Malta’s Police Drug Squad was tipped off that three postal packages addressed to him contained approximately 18,000 cannabis cigarettes.

The man was arrested on June 25 after officials with the Customs Department reported the find to the drug squad, according to the Malta Police Force. The boxes contained what officials believe to be cannabis.
