Seek and Destroy – How Cannabinoids Selectively Target Abnormal Cells

A new study in the July issue of Biochemical Pharmacology elaborates upon a unique mechanism of cannabinoids’ anti-cancer activity.  It is notable for demonstrating how cannabinoids work synergistically with the body’s immune system to stop cancer, unlike traditional treatments which destroy the immune system in the process of stopping cancer.

Cannabis reverses late-stage Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's disease has become the third-leading disease cause of death, behind heart disease and cancer. Its rate has risen almost exponentially over the past few decades, and the numbers are expected to triple by 2050. [1]

Meanwhile, Big Pharma is clueless, which is a blessing in disguise, as some more effective, less expensive and less toxic remedies are slipping through the cracks.

You've probably read about the positive effects of coconut oil's medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) to produce ketones that energize brain cells in lieu of dysfunctional brain metabolism.

UK Home Office Misses Point With Drug Scheduling Argument

A recent letter from the UK Home Office claims that categorizing substances as Schedule 1 -- the most severe scheduling -- does not impede research into these drugs, seemingly ignoring the enormous financial and bureaucratic obstacles such scheduling places on this research.

Germany says yes to grow-your-own therapeutic cannabis

A landmark ruling has taken place in Germany, where the cultivation of cannabis for therapeutic use has been authorised for the first time. In practice, this means that patients taking marijuana-based medicines can grow the plants for their own treatment. This was established by the Administrative Court of Cologne, which upheld the appeal of three patients (out of five who had filed a case) against the Federal Institute for Drugs (BfArM).

The social network for STONERS

  • Website that lets people talk while high on marijuana has been launched
  • But London's PHE warns people of the dangers of smoking cannabis
  • Users on the site are asked to rate how high they are on a scale of 0 to 10
  • They are then randomly connected to a stranger around the world
  • Discussions can take place by just text or using video as well
  • The Home Office reminds people that smoking cannabis in the UK is illegal

MP calls criminalisation of Cannabis ‘inhumane, unjust and immoral’

HUNDREDS of people gathered to show their support for the medicinal use of cannabis.

A meeting at Brighton’s Brighthelm Centre, hosted by the United Patients Alliance, saw scores of Sussex residents share their stories on how cannabis helped to cure them – including one man who said cannabis oil freed him of cancer.

The event was attended by Caroline Lucas, Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, and former government drug advisor Professor David Nutt. The pair shared their views on current laws surrounding medicinal cannabis use.

Michael Cutler, 63, from Hastings, said he was “sent home to die with a suitcase full of morphine” but believes he rid himself of the disease by taking cannabis oil.

How Black Pepper relieves Cannabis Anxiety

While working at the Victoria Cannabis Buyers Club I was able to teach some of the members about Black Pepper. While benefiting from the medicinal effects of THC, these patients suffered from bouts with anxiety while medicating. Most patients who have tried this simply took a few sniffs of the black pepper to receive an almost immediate effect. Others have reported that after chewing on pepper corns they felt relief within an hour, but that may be a delay most would seek to avoid. So how does this work? The Aug. 2011 British Journal of Pharmacology: Cannabinoids in Biology and Medicine, Part 1 includes numerous articles exploring the nature of the cannabis plants’ chemical dynamism.
