New OCS products go on sale today, but online shoppers will have to wait a little longer

Long-awaited second-wave cannabis products such as vapes, edibles and concentrates will finally hit the shelves today at the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS).

The Crown corporation is stocking almost 60 new cannabis-infused products when brick-and-mortar stores open their doors for the day. Ontario’s curious cannabis lovers without a local OCS, however, will have to take a road trip or wait until the products go on sale online on Jan. 1.

OCS expects first wave of cannabis 2.0 products to sell out within a week

Ontarians will see a “very limited supply” of cannabis 2.0 products at retail stores starting next week, with online sales starting Jan. 16, according to the Ontario Cannabis Store, the province’s only cannabis wholesaler.

“We expect products to sell out within the first week. But it will improve, week after week,” said OCS chief of staff David Lobo at a media event showcasing 59 different products that will soon be for sale.

While the OCS has begun shipping vape pens, chocolates, gummies and tea bags to the 27 retail stores across the province, it made the decision to delay the sale of these products on their own site, OCS.ca., due to limited supply.

Ontario Cannabis Stores Are Reducing Their Prices To Compete With Illegal Pot Shops

It may no longer be expensive to go the legal route. Ontario Cannabis Store (OSC) has finally decided to reduce the price of 50 different marijuana products. The retail company said during a press conference on Friday, January 3, 2020, that it now has a gram of weed available for $5.

The OSC is selling their “Original Stash” strand for this price. “A medium THC potency Indica that delivers a fruity, earthy profile. Naturally, sun-grown in hybrid greenhouses,” a description of the product reads.

Edibles, vapes and other cannabis products go on sale in Ontario

The latest generation of cannabis products will be available for legal sale in Ontario starting Monday.

The Ontario Cannabis Store is releasing 59 new products, including edibles, beverages, lotions and concentrates.

The products will be available on the shelves of physical retail stores starting on Monday and will go on sale online on Jan. 16.

But the OCS, Ontario’s pot distributor, warns that supplies are tight and some of the products could sell out quickly.

It says it will work to replenish supplies quickly and hopes to roll out more products in the coming months.

Prices for legally sold edibles will range from $7 to $14, beverages are set to cost between $4 and $10, and vapes will be priced anywhere from $25 to $125.

Alberta reports first case of severe vaping-related lung illness

A person is recovering at home from the province’s first recorded case of severe vaping-associated lung illness, Alberta Health says.

Early in December, a person who had used tobacco vaping products began to experience shortness of breath and coughing, Alberta’s chief medical health officer, Dr. Deena Hinshaw said on Thursday. The person was hospitalized to treat their respiratory problems.

“The bottom line is that vaping is not without risk,” Hinshaw told reporters in Edmonton. “Any time people inhale substances into their lungs, there’s a potential for health impacts — especially when it’s an unknown substance.”

More cannabis edibles expected in NSLC stores on Friday

More than a week after cannabis products became available for purchase across Canada, Nova Scotia cannabis retailers are still completely sold out, but expect a restock soon.

Edible cannabis products arrived in a dozen NSLC locations across the province on Dec. 23 and had completely sold out by Christmas Eve, but stores should be receiving more products Friday.

"By Friday all of our cannabis stores will have a second delivery of soft chews and chocolate available to our customers," said NSLC Cannabis spokeswoman Beverly Ware. "It is a limited delivery and that's expected to be the case for a while."

Nova Scotia became one of the first provinces to offer the products, which became legal for stores to order on Dec. 17.
