SFA students agree with study that student pot use is at all time high

For the first time in history marijuana use surpassed cigarettes use among college students, according one national study.
Stephen F. Austin State University students said the findings in the study are true on their campus as well.

Cigarette smoking for college students, according to the University of Michigan study, has lost its spark.

"In the past years, I've seen a shift in the attitude towards cigarettes from cool and accepted to gross," said an SFA student who interviewed anonymously.

The study revealed a steep drop from 19% in 1999 to 5% today.

"I think if you go back in history and look, many people smoked cigarettes, and they didn't feel like it had harmful effects either," said Phyllis Grandgeorge, the Executive Director at A.D.A.C.

WILLIE NELSON DEFINITELY SMOKED WEED ON THE ROOF OF THE WHITE HOUSE WITH JIMMY CARTER'S SON

Country music legend Willie Nelson—a.k.a. America's most beloved stoner uncle—just gave GQ's Chris Heath one hell of an interview, during the course of which he peered out from behind his famously Zen smokescreen and dropped a couple of bombs. Besides ruminating on his own weird sleeping habits, Nelson also casually confirmed a rumor that's been following the Red-Headed Stranger around for decades—that he smoked weed on the White House roof with then-President Jimmy Carter's son.

The Myth of the Violent Drug Seller has Lethal Consequences

One of the countless myths underlying the war on drugs is that people who sell drugs are violent. We’re told in school, by the media, or by law enforcement that people who sell drugs, even marijuana, areaggressive predators motivated by profit who will do anything, including resort to violence, to promote and protect their product.

Stoking these fears is, at best, outdated and unjustified, and at worst, deliberately deceptive and dangerous.

Group seeks to legalize marijuana in Florida

Petitions are hitting the streets soon for a new proposed constitutional amendment that would fully legalize marijuana use, possession and cultivation by adults in Florida.

A political action committee called Floridians For Freedom, associated with a longtime marijuana advocacy group called the Florida Cannabis Action Network, announced Tuesday it has gotten state approval to begin seeking signatures to get their measure on the November, 2016, ballot.

The measure is distinct from another constitutional drive, run by United For Care and led by Orlando lawyer John Morgan, because Morgan's group wants to legalize marijuana for medical purposes only, while Floridians For Freedom wants it legalized for all uses.

Judge rules illegal search, pot case dismissed

A case involving 80 pounds of processed marijuana was dismissed last week after a judge ruled that the search by a Nevada County Sheriff’s deputy’s of duffle bags hidden in a ditch was illegal.

The defendant, Garth Alexander Gryte, had been charged with transportation of marijuana and possession for sale in connection with an Oct. 29, 2013, arrest, after the deputy stopped to help Gryte as he fixed a flat tire.

Lt. Alicia Burget testified — during a hearing in Nevada County Superior Court on a motion to suppress the evidence — that she was driving on Highway 49 when she noticed Gryte out of his vehicle near Cement Hill Road; she said he was coming out of a ditch.
